Thread regarding Giant Eagle layoffs

Micromanaging is a warning sign

They're also micromanaging everything too to a tee. That's bad when they even freak out about the amount of bags being used by the cashiers acting like the bags alone will bankrupt the store. The shoplifting is worth more than the box of bags they get delivered every week. They probably have the cost of the bags figured into the cost of the retail markup. When you see corporations micromanaging everything to a tee, you know there are some serious cash flow problems.

This, @OZpZCBH-qgx. Same thing in our Giant Eagle location. One would think that it's the overuse of bags that will bring us down, how much they get on it. Well, not just that, everything is an issue, but bags are the perfect example. This seems like a brightest red flag, if I ever saw one. I am pretty sure our store will be on the chopping block soon...

Couldn't agree more. People don't realize that a lot of times micromanaging is necessary. Cashier over/short, supply costs, maintenance costs, utilities etc. all show up on a P&L. Everything plays into a stores profitability not just the sales (still, sales are prob most important along w/ labor)

I think you are reaching for anything to make a point. EVERY company watches the money spent on supplies. In a day where margins are so thin, every penny counts. You ever wonder what they pay for those bags and all other supplies to run the amount of stores they have? It cant be a free for all. If it were your money, you would think differently.
