Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Fewer, Better, Stronger - I agree!

Folks, I had an epiphany today as I flushed my morning constitutional.

No, not the obvious sentiment of watching a multi-year career at Staples go down the drain but the realization that for the first time since her taking over the reins I agree with Ms. CEO.

Yes! "Fewer, Better, Stronger" as espoused in her Monday Mantra is the path to a superior Staples.

FEWER farcical, floundering, failing, C-Level, Board Member, EVP, RVP, VP, and Director EEs will make Staples a BETTER place to work as the blaming, blithering, blocking, banal bureaucrats will no longer impede the STRONGER smarter, serious, steadfast staffers from raising this toasted Phoenix from the ashes of economic invisibility.

Thank you Ms. CEO for giving my job meaning again.

Now, do us all a courtesy and please leave and take your cronies and theirs with you.

Whatever plans Shira & Sycamore have for retail they need to get rid of MD, OP and all the RVPs with NO parachutes.

Retail is real bad they are making us go after every single metric its ridiculous. Dm's and Rvp's barking orders from email why dont they get in store and help . Q3 goals square trade, more accounts, market basket, phone repair, surveys, conversion, ink to printer, paper to ink, rewards, all this with no payroll in back to school season with 15 pallets of junk clorox , kleenex , and bubble wrap and registers that are slow or crash all the tim broken air conditioner that just piss of the customers even more and register dont move cause of all the question they make us ask. but they sure love to criticize the stores instead of helping .

I am trying to fugure out what the hell all those abbreviations do?

My store runs fine on its own. I'd like to know what all those people really do except dream up stuff for the managers to start pushing stuff the customers DO NOT WANT. if they want a credit card to buy something, they will ask for it.

I could go on and on. None of those higher ups have no clue how they're not needed. It could all be done by loss prevention.

If we had great IT, a great infrastructure where we could get actual speed on our registers (I'm sure they have no clue how many people they piss off with the slowness), and people in the home office trying to justify their jobs by changing any system they can weekly, customers would have a good experience.

We all work hard in the stores for no money. I hope all the high ups leave with no money.

I couldn't agree more!!!! Can this be on the front page of the Boston Globe or any news network. The top is the weakest part of this organization.

It's all too far gone. No matter what changes are attempted the end result will be the same. It's over for Staples. And yes, Shira and crew already know this.

at least they finally admit there will be fewer employees, and the survivors will need more strength to survive the extra workload.
