Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Can morale get any lower than it is?

If they do intend to attempt to "save" retail they need to increase morale, Stores are literally dumpster fires right now. Comps are down due to changing shopping trends, but more so because there's no staff in stores. You can't run a store with 3 or 4 people and provide good service as well as have effective operations.

The daily struggle to make ends meet while listening to DMs, RVPs and corporate scream and criticize about not hitting the metric of the month is taking a deep toll on store employees.

This is so true, @OmWZfCH-8les. Staples is a shadow of its former self, and working here has reached a new low point. Somehow, though, I think they'll find a way to make it even worse.

If Shira comes into your store just (politely) thank her for destroying Staples, call her a rancid c--t, and hand her your name badge while you tell her you hope she sleeps well tonight. Preferably in front of any Sycamore d---s in tow.

As a female employee I am so disappointed in Shira. I had such high hopes. She has not lead the company. Her greed is disgusting.

Morale at corporate was already terrible when I left, which is normal considering the constant layoffs in favor of outsourcing to cheap labor. I heard many people say they didn't care about the job anymore and were just waiting for their severance package. You can't keep a business profitable with a toxic culture and demoralized employees.

Well, it may all be moot with respect to stores as Staples and Sycamore are looking to unload the retail operations: http://nypost.com/2017/07/31/office-depot-in-talks-to-buy-rival-staples/

The traditional closing line of, "Staples and Sycamore spokespeople declined comment. Office Depot did not return calls." is good indicator that something is in the works.

This most likely explains our CEO's recent trips around the country to "visit" stores with Sycamore team members in tow.

The bigger question becomes, "When, Ms. CEO, are you going to tell the truth to your employees?"

We are all growing exceedingly weary of your MBA charades. Please do us all a favor and resign with your Golden Parachute so we no longer have to smell the stench of your BS or feel the pain of your knives in our backs.
