Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Great companies don't thrive on threats

The core problem is that leadership gave up years ago - the stores are a disaster - terrible - the staff is cut to shreds, no motivation from the top besides threats of replacement - lay offs, sales are in the tank, low inventories and a joke to the vendor community. While I hate to even say it, the "giving it your all" has been gone for awhile because everyone who did was kicked out. Very sad within the company right now and only getting worse. Great companies don't thrive on threats.

This post is golden for that last line, @OmaoE8k-3euu. If the only way for a company to "motivate" it's workers is to threaten them with pay cuts, demotions, or layoffs, that company is not going to be around for much longer.

True definition of bully mentality - I suppose - typical leadership at tommys world. Degrade, belittle, divert - while this attitude has thrived under Tommy, soon it will be but a memory. The lack of leadership among the leadership caught up and we all have to pay a heavy price

What do you expect Cabelas hired a hit man from Wal-Mart to clear out all retail folks. Look what he did in the first month he was there tear apart the district's. He came from a company who ran 5-6% payroll. Find a job while you have one now much easier to get recruited. Cabelas on the hill is going to die slowly and painfully. This time I can say the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. There is so many directors are way over there head they also are to blame. This company went to diversity because of lawsuits not hiring color, gender etc. Just look who are in the meetings they don't know sh--. They also sign there teams up for stuff they don't know how to do but want a feather in there own cap. You do the work they take the credit to stay employed.

I can think of several quality people that were treated like crap only because they did not golf, drink, or agree with the right insider. Managers who treated people with dignity were replaced by brown noses who shamelessly followed a VP around like a puppy and were quick to agree with every whim conceived on an alcohol fueled jet trip. I had a great manager, and the lies that were spread about him after he was kicked to the curb are almost criminal.

about 5 years ago it became a very toxic/hostile workplace, leadership promoted throwing someone under the bus in every meeting...the language, threats, and insults thrown during any meeting were a complete 180 from the "core values" that were promoted outside those rooms were a very sad joke... successful meetings meant someone left it with tire tracks on their back.
