Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

I think the first thing maybe Sidney ne could do is to pass a petition

The petition would say basically to open our council meeting UP to interaction between the city council and the pubic. (SOMETHING WHICH HAS BEEN DONE AT EVERY COUNCIL MEETING IN THE HISTORY OF SIDNEY NEBRASKA Before ED SADLER AND I THINK IS DONE AT EVERY CITY COUNCIL MEETING IN NEBRASKA EXCEPT SIDNEY}

Has anyONE NoticeD since the new city manager was hired THAT the cable TV channel which coverS the Council meetingS DOESN'T HAVE WORKING AUDIO or the council meeting(s) isn't on due to TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. (I guess,) I think the comment about the council ending all open discussions with the pubLic is a policy which could have a very negative effect on all businessES including Cabela's(,).

You make it very hard to understand what you are saying...I tried to interpred/correct it above.

I guess, I think that "public" has an "L" in it.

All you do is complain...if you want to start a petition get off your duff and DO IT!

You really want someone else to do it.

I have to agree the the post complaining about all the Sidney references and it's council, spending etc.... let's please keep the topic to Cabelas, the impending layoffs and buyout and general concerns of all employees nation wide. These rants are infecting several topics- it's getting rather redundant.

My background include almost 30 years of experience at Cabela's. During this time I have seen so many city council meetings where the Cabela's executive had attended city council meetings and stated policies over the years which was extremely important to Sidney and Cabela's. The executive team of Cabela's had a good and valuable discussion on important issues with the city council (which now is outlawed) and policies were discussed and voted on. What is your background and am I right you do not think the open discussion between not only Cabela's but I would say probably every large business located in Sidney in the last couple of decades on issues has had no benefit to the business or Sidney. they were basically wasting the city time and the business time attending the council meeting TO DISCUSS issues in a open forum with the city council. I do not agree and I think these communications in a open meeting has been an important part of the success of different businesses who has located in Sidney.
