Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Morale at IBM

Got an email about Engage@ibm.com.. 'A brand new way to make IBM an even better place to work.'

They want suggestions on how to improve the continued poor morale. Really?

I've got plenty of suggestions but with all that has gone on over the past many years I'm not interested in sharing my opinion.. Delete!

This tells me they know they have a serious problem, too little too late I'm afraid. LOL!

Guys. What I read here about IBM is a nightmare. I'm unemployed for sometime and from what I read on glassdoor and here I rather look elsewhere than work for IBM. Had an interview there recently with some CTO and was invited to a second one but said that I'm not interested. Worked for many and many companies and killing morale is the worst and hardest to restore. It's a torture to work for a company where you come and hear jokes and rumors about who is let go next.

Also talked to people recently who used to manage some IT and DBAs for a couple major US banks. All say that the entire IT industry is hijacked by India and outsourcing and that it's getting worse and worse.

You said it well. When we point out the poor quality and late delivery we get from Brazil, management seems to just accept that's just the way it's going to be but let an US employee do it and your gone.

well they can quit laying off people that know what they are doing and sending the jobs to brazil and india. Then expect the guy who is left who knows what he is doing to perform 3 jobs and handle the idiots from the 3rd world who KNOW NOTHING
