Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Giving it your all?

The Cabela's employees have obviously been through a wild time this past couple of years...more if you actually knew they were lying to you. I am curious if the employees that are still there, are you still giving your job 100%? Is the company making it harder due to the lack of giving you the tools at this point?

I have heard of some people just waiting it out and doing the bare minimum (that's for you good employees as I know some skated by even before the BP stuff).

I am curious on how these past couple of years had affected your personal motivation.

Thank you and good luck

Of the 400 employees who opened our store

10 remain

Two are managers both are just doing their job

Most are waiting to see how it ends

The only motivation for above is sell club. Get more cards

Management is all just hanging on no blaming the employees

There is no motivation most try to do the best but are given no help from above

The party line responses about giving 100% are the result of 1) this person has a golden parachute 2) been consuming too much koolaid for too long, that he/she is blind to the facts of what's around the corner, or 3) sarcasm. It s---s to have invested all your working career at one company, and giving it your all, but this was a business deal for CAB owners and execs, not outfitters.

The top execs stand to make combined $28m when the change in control happens. They are being paid to keep everyone on board, calm, and hopeful of a promised land. http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/business/2017/07/20/cabelas-executives-stand-make-millions-bass-pro-takeover/470153001/

From my experience in M/A's, which is nearly a 100 of them, it will play out like this. 1) just prior to CiC, there will be significant layoffs, CAB books will have to absorb the severance payout, 2) after CiC, the vast majority of duplicated positions/titles/departments/services will be eliminated at CAB, 3) the few positions that represent "a base of operations" in Sidney will be for house cleaning, migrating CAB systems data to BP, and turning out the lights, could take a couple of months at most.

Giving your all is coming to a dead end road.

The core problem is that leadership gave up years ago - the stores are a disaster - terrible - the staff is cut to shreds, no motivation from the top besides threats of replacement - lay offs, sales are in the tank, low inventories and a joke to the vendor community. While I hate to even say it, the "giving it your all" has been gone for awhile because everyone who did was kicked out. Very sad within the company right now and only getting worse. Great companies don't thrive on threats.

Outfitters are calling out more often. The writing is on the wall. Many of them DGAF.

I am a peon in my store, doing a job that I take pride in, no I don't drink the kool-aid of what the managers and GM is not telling us, but in my job, when I see my posting's online, I not the company is what I look to see how I can improve. I am older than most of the outfitters around me, but I was taught to work hard, complain when you can win the battle, and stay quiet the rest of the time, as that scare's them more than b--ching all the time. In the end and I am sure there will be an end to this madness and betrayal, it's me who has to look in the mirror, move on like I have done in federal work, and state work, and all I can hope for is at my funeral, they say, he was a good guy, and honest in what he did. That's all we take out of this world, as huge companies like Cabela's and Bass Pro don't give a rat's a-- about you, it is to make profit for themselves and the stock holders. It's the people you work with every day that you should stand by and help, not the logo, or who is in power.

Yep, let's all speak in unison as one happy family. We also have complete faith and confidence in our leaders who will certainly do the right thing for all of the people that gave so much for this company. More kool aid is available in the break room.

I am also amazed by the employees in denial and who think everything is going to be just fine

I find it hard to believe that TM stopped and said thank you. Not sure why a you brought up policy as this has nothing to do with that. Also not sure why people continue to defend this company after all this. Blows my mind and I have never seen such denial.

Besides, I'm sure all the policies were followed at Cabela's (insert eye roll)

I am curious what did you find hard to believe. This is the policy outlined to every Cabela employee. This statement is usually stated after every major announcement to employees . It is important we speak as one voice if an employee is contacted for their opinion forward to the person responsible for answering questions.

Ha! TM stopped you and thanked you! What he really meant was "hanks for making me even richer!" I find it hard to beleive that is true, but thanks for the funny comment!

Yes I apply myself 100 percent as normal. I have been told it is important we speak as one voice and we have been told to direct any question we have to a certain number at Cabela's. Given this I am very confident Cabela's employees with be taken care of very fairly in the future.

giving 100% here. our executives tell me our future is so bright we'll need to wear sunglasses. chief outfitter TM stopped and thanked me in the hall today, invited me for shots after work over at BPoint, big bonus checks in the mail for all of us, he is going to take care of us.

I have not given up... I have been busting my hump because I take pride in what I do and I have to live with myself. I love what I do and if I am cut by BP, I will just go find the next thing. LIFE IS NOT ENDING BECAUSE CABELA'S IS ENDING.

Based on what I'm seeing and doing, bare minimum is being done by several people across several different departments!!!! You can tell no one cares or most don't care.
