Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

We are losing talent left and right

I've had frequent discussions with current APC employees in multiple disciplines and you're correct - the moral couldn't be worse. The frequent thread is that many of the survivors of the big one were the people who should have been let go even during the good times. They are now back to their old ways and know how to game their superiors. It's easy since some of the superiors should never have been promoted to the positions they hold anyhow. The talent is slowly escaping and finding better companies to work for and leave as soon as the opportunities become available. So, bottom line - it's great to watch the blowing up of what was once a pretty good company to work for. I'm working for a much better company, we don't have the forced slogans about core values, but everyone, from the top to bottom, behaves much more ethically and responsibly and with enthusiasm than a lot of the "future" of Anadarko.

So true, @OiAYQmT-2jfk. Most of the good people who remained have left on their own accord by now. I don't see how Anadarko can survive in the long run like this.

But all of those new supervisors and managers think it's sooo dreamy! So SMART.

APC promotes all the wrong people.

What??? You didn't like your LETs training with the quack that leads that MESS!?! LOL. Apc is so sad .... And I hear poor chk is getting smeared with LETs as well. What a waste of my time and what a waste of company money.

I left the Darko in the big one and even though retirement was an option, wasn't ready to hang up my spikes. Found a great smaller company that appreciates my dedication, experience, and contribution to the company. No more corporate drama, helicopter bosses waiting for the smallest mistake, and now a sense of freedom to do what I did well for many years at the darko. When the Darko bosses were threatened by innovation, and smart folks working in their group, they found a way to diminish the creativity, drive, and passion in such a way so that their job was secure.

Screw all of the "Leadership" training the company provided, turns out it was just a drone factory which created the next set of storm troopers. The "Leadership" never tried to implement any of the strategies that were taught. If you can find something else, go for it! Your sweat and ingenuity is not worth padding your bosses pocket while you are told some BS reason why you can't advance.

Happy trails!

Not my monkey, not my circus! Ringling Bros. closed shop this year! This circus may close soon too! No one seems to pay attention to the elephant in the room! Glad to be off of this merry go round!

And a quick scroll through LinkedIn shows the ongoing mismanagement of personnel: Promotion of technically weak staff, the continued promotion of petulant management, GMs who wouldn't pass as a first line supervisor at any other company, etc. Oh, and the Directors! Har har har!

No wonder they keep missing the mark. It's a JV team all around now. The team's just following the playbook created before the the '16 layoffs. The only stars in the shop are actively looking elsewhere and the start ups are quietly picking them up.

Yep, a quick scroll through LinkedIn will show ex-APC employees jumping ship and starting new careers at different companies. These people left voluntarily and on their own accord to pursue opportunities with other companies, some of these companies are oil and gas related, some of those companies are in a completely different industry. If you still work for APC, please consider other opportunities before it's too late.

As we ride off into the sunset. I tried but was let go for whatever reason I will never know. I'm happy now and have moved on. Good bye and good riddance Anadarko.

It's sad that past and present employees have to come on this site to air their grievances. I don't blame them one bit though. The monkeys are running the zoo at Anadarko and there's no one in management/HR that will do anything about the serious internal issues going on, so why not post on a public site?! It's scary to think of the people that are still around, and their levels of competency and moral compasses. Anadarko is one big accident waiting to happen. To the good ones that are left- get out while you can!

Why would you want to work for APC again? The majority of companies (approximately 80%) who have offered me pay significantly more. APC refuses to give raised every year and intentionally retards your career growth. It is insane that anyone would want to work for a company who loses > $300MM per quarter in hopes of a future.

It's my understanding APC will not re-hire people who were laid off. It's a shame, but it's what I was told. Hopefully I am wrong.
