Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Chesapeake Energy's management problem

Management needs to get a grip before the entire house crumbles. Maybe learning what Leadership is all about would help. Putting the right individuals in positions to lead based on abilities has gone by the wayside. Instead, it seems to be based on looks, Anadarko experience, or ability to smooth talk. If a person has had to be moved to 3 or 4 positions in that many years, maybe it should tell you there is a problem. But hey - if a company wants to keep the people who look good doing nothing, all the quality people including myself, will find jobs elsewhere.

Chesapeake has been known for their assets - which historically included it's people. At this point, I would consider most of it's people, more of a liability than an asset. Executive management has a vision - a solid middle management who can implement that vision is non-existent.

You hit the nail on the head, @NjUE2ZX-Xsyi.

The gap between corporate executives and the boots on the ground is huge. They lay out a plan, we are ready to run with it and then middle management says we are going to do it a different way. Eliminate the static in the middle and save the company.

I agree. Look at STX, promised more manpower to help with the oil volume push. We're over halfway through the year with nothing to show for it on that front. Landmen and engineers leaving for other companies. if Chk pays like other companies, but stock/company is underperforming other companies, they what keeps us here at Chk? It surely isn't my worthless options. I'm in a dead sprint here to try to achieve company metrics, other companies have cruise set and are coasting along. Chk executive are beyond out of touch with employees, and the link between us and them-HR. Well HR is a useless entity at Chk. Throwing a party for STX a few months back and it was a potluck! HA! What a joke.
