Intel profits would be $2.5bn higher. The talented engineers would work on something else in the world. The iPhone would have 1000 Mbps instead of 450.

I agree that who will leave Qualcomm except for those guys who HAVE to leave Qualcomm.
Infineon actually had a profitable product when they were bought by Intel. Only problem was the lack of an LTE solution, because Infineon didn't have the cash reserves to invest into the future anymore.
Then Intel took over and completely phucked things up. Doomed-to-fail experiments like SoFIA cost a lot of time, money and energy. Additional teams and companies were bought that didn't add any value. Sites that added value were closed. New sites that didn't add value were opened. Just look at that San Diego nonsense. "Hey, let's open a site in SD to hire some great Qualcomm engineers! Who cares about cost?" Seriously, who leaves Qualcomm for Intel's lower salaries except for those guys who HAVE to leave Qualcomm? And then who do you put in charge of that site? The most political, backstabbing, site-strategically thinking people you can find! Really smart.
None of these failures were orchestrated by ex-Infineon. That was all Intel's idea. Dumb Intel managers did their best to keep iCDG productivity as low as possible, while complaining that Qualcomm does more with fewer people.
@qrv. If the ex-Infineon guys are so good Intel mobile wouldn't be in today's state.
