I used to work at Sabre and like many who have been laid off it caught me off guard and it was very cold and impersonal. I was devastated and angry at my situation. I had to take a week to just let it go before I started my job hunt and move forward. The job hunt was a process and I ended up taking unemployment but during that time I also took time to learn and sharpen my skill set. One thing that I learned during all of this, the things you've learned at Sabre is invaluable and their are opportunities after Sabre. Before I took an offer for the job I felt was right for me I had other companies making offers left and right and I was able to land myself in a better situation than my previous job at Sabre. Change is necessary and sometimes it can be uncomfortable. Remember you are not the first and probably won't be the last to experience the uncertainty of a layoff, but remember there were those before you that survived and moved on to the next chapter of their lives.

I agree with the payback..sorry not sorry. I was laid off and moved on to a much better job, even though I thought that it might be impossible. I'll laugh when some of the directors in Airline Solutions lose their jobs.
payback? watching sabre sink? shiit man, this is crazy and toxic. sounds to me like stalking a girl who dumped you.
I agree wholeheartedly. Being laid off or pushed out of Sabre may sound scary, and it is at first, but in the end, it almost always turns out to be for the best. The severance pay allows you to look for another job with some level of guaranteed income. Don't be upset at Sabre for letting you go after so many years of loyal service, all this seniority gives you more severance.
There are jobs out there, so many more and better jobs. Trust me. You don't have to go far or relocate. It happened to me and I was scared. I have a family to support and bills to pay, But I did find a better job, oh so much better, and now many former Sabre colleagues contact me for help. I do what I can. The best payback for me is not just the better salary or position I have secured, it is to watch Sabre sink. Nothing I have done, just self inflicted. Leaving Sabre without another job or severance is a difficult situation, being laid off or pushed out is the best alternative. In the end, you are out, free of this toxic work environment and corrupt leadership, with money in your pocket to start fresh. Unemployment is also a temporary relief. Use it, and know that indirectly, that is also Sabre paying you, albeit through the state. Don't hesitate to apply for it. Good luck all!
