Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Buyout offers at Fidelity?

I initially rejected my buyout, but then my manager came back to me and strongly suggested I accept it.

Thank your lucky starts for your manager, @OaJToxs-2nhn. Does anybody know if there is any chance the offers will be repeated to those who rejected them?

There will not be another one. Managers were explicitly told not to ask or discuss, so consider yourself lucky.

Honestly feel like he was concerned about my departments future and looking out for my best interest. No reason he (or Fidelity) would want me gone other than my 55+ (barely) age. I assume he had information he could not share with me. That being said, had no intention of accepting the buyout until I was told I should reconsider.

This happens all the time, and It can take different forms.

Maybe he/she knows something and it's giving you an advice 'between the lines'...

Alternatively, he/she may be yearning to push you out, which may be difficult using the regular steps (maybe due to seniority, performance level, race/gender, etc.) - so he/she's is applying an extra layer of pressure in order to see you go...

Without more details it's hard to tell what's going on - whatever happens you will not have fun working with that Manager any more

Not likely (just my $0.02, don't have any insider info).
