STORAGE will never be Dead! Centralized super fast and that can be leveraged across the whole company. Replication, snapshots it's not dead. Backups off device is dead.

Storage is NOT dead. But it has moved to the Server. Not good when one's IP is in networked storage. EMC and NetApp are in trouble long term. But wait - at least EMC got bought out by a server company. True - it now has to go on a diet to serve Dell's debt. But NetApp seems to be in dire need of a dance partner. The one-2-many SAN/NAS shared storage array is dead in deed.
