Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Will the package remain the same ?

There is a rumor that the package will change after Sept . It will not be as generous and change to a basic Dell package or no package .

Highly doubt the package will be reduced to only two weeks, that much of an insult will certainly result in many folks over the age of 40 saying F' it and starting an age discrimination lawsuit. There's nothing much to lose at that point, it's not like you're giving up 2 months salary plus additional weeks for each year, if my package had only been 2 weeks I know I would have absolutely sued being as I was already in my 50's at the time.

Don't miss either EMC or Dell, worked for both and both S**ked, each in their own unique soul crushing way, much happier in a better job at a company that actually values its employees and their abilities.

I have also heard (since we are told our jobs will be gone by january) that emc legacy package is much better. So you better pray if they lay you off , you get canned this year.Dell package i heard will be two weeks straight irrespective of number of years of service.

@ Dell the basic package for individual contributors is 2 months pay plus 1 week additional for every full year of service. If you work on a base plus commission they typically try to do it around the time commissions are paid so you get whatever you are due, no argument. The chance of it becoming a no package situation is essentially zero, the only leverage they have to get you to sign a document agreeing not to sue is to offer the package contingent on you signing said document. By offering no package they open the door to a bucket load of lawsuits unless people on the list are on a PIP and subsequently fired for non-performance which is a whole different scenario than being separated as part of a RIF.
