Thread regarding Pacific Life layoffs

Whale of a LayOff

Almost 20 years of service. Then on Thursday, January 19th your requested to go down to HR. HR asked you to sign an agreement to receive a severance (I am grateful for that). Then they tell you that you cannot go back to your desk to get your personal things. Then they tell you to go out the side door. This company is fully aware of reviews on these types of sites and makes sure they have their people go in and make positive posts. Well here is the real skinny on the Whale.

Con - Management is horrible here. Most all of the Management positions are run by women. So, if you are a man, don't plan on getting promoted to any of these spots. The few men that on in these spots are not real men. Goals are not your goals and plan on not getting that wonderful raise you were told about when you walked in that first day. Holidays are nice, but don't plan on spending much time with your family during year end. Don't plan on going home if 9/11 or the Fires start in Foothill Ranch next to the office.

Pros - Benefits are good. Locations are ok. Cubicles are nice.

Short comments: This BIG company does not care about you and never will. They are all about the bottom line and how much $$$ the company can bring to them. This is not a publicly traded company and the employees should not be publicly traded either. Research LAYOFFS and see what you find.

I agree! The company used to care about their employees but not under the current management. You give 30+ years to the company and they escort you out the door before you qualify for retirement. What a slap in the face! Karma will show its face one day.

Let's not forget about this Humpback as well. There was a lay off 4/15/09 - 112 employees. Sad day for them.
