Thread regarding Cox Automotive layoffs

when you let people leave through attrition, only your best people leave

The title says it all. I'm watching a lot of very talented people leave. The executive team could have made a tough call and asked all managers to rif the bottom 10-20% of low performers, and pledged to keep strong bonuses and compensation in place for everyone else. They chose to let people leave through attrition, so those with the most skills, who are most able to find other work quickly, are doing so. My dev team has lost 4 out of 10 developers in since January. I'm looking elsewhere, most of the technical staff I know are also looking. Why would you not be looking? The amount of work I have to do to cover for the attrition is high, compensation is going to be way down... What's the purpose of staying?

Business keeps making promised to customers....laying off people and not hiring in return, making it harder and harder for people to get anything done. Then penalize and degrade you when not meeting commitments..really what's going on in the wonderful company of dealertrack that I used to love working for.
