Here's an Intel Layoffs Poll:
Intel for several years had the 'Tick-Tock Model', where the 'Tick' was a new process node and the 'Tock' was a major architectural change. The smart thinking was that doing both at once was fraught with issues, so Intel would introduce a major architectural family on an existing production node first, then intro a die/performance improvement with the next process node. Technically, it was a 'Tock-Tick' model, but the former sounded better.
So, what is it now? 14nm has four generations, only one being a new architecture.
Is it Tick-Tick-Tick-Tick-Tock? Tack-Tuck? Tick-Tack-Toe? Let the board decide!
