Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Would YOU, Pillai, accept a pay cut in the same manner as YOUR employees?

Your latest written explanation to YOUR employees, reaffirms the negativity, distrust and lack of faith YOUR employees have with Altice and ATS. YOUR employees were asked to "bite the bullet" and hold on. But..... will YOU do the same???

Will YOU be willing to cut your salary, your income, your benefits, as a sign of solidarity? To show that YOU also, "feel the pain."???

No, YOU wouldn't. If your salary or compensation were revealed, YOUR hypocrisy would shine brighter than the sun. And even YOU did, that action would cause a massive disruption in your management hierarchy. If YOU take a cut, the others would have to do the same. So, we all know... it won't happen.

The CEO of an AMERICAN company called Gravity, a start up content personalization company based out of Los Angeles, took a 90% PAY CUT in his salary and slashed his company's profits just so he could give his employees a raise. And to do that he's cutting his $1 million salary to $70,000, and dipping into the firm's annual $2 million in profits.

From $1,000,000 to $70,000 !!!

Would YOU do the same? Or, something similar? YOUR employees' salary level is a mere pittance compared to yours. And why can an employee's salary be exposed to your eyes, but the employees can't have knowledge of yours? Everyone knew of James Dolan salary and compensation. It was public record. What's yours? Huh? If your compensation was exposed to YOUR employees, would that prove your sincerity?

I DON'T THINK SO. And WHY SHOULD YOU? "Let them eat cake", as allegedly Marie Antoniette once said upon learning that the peasants had no bread. So, .... help your workers (peasants) out and pass the Twinkies.

The CEO of Gravity decided to hike his employees pay after he read a study about happiness. It said additional income can make a significant difference in a person's emotional well being up to the point when they earn $75,000 a year.

What an idiot! To decide to put his employees ahead of himself. The same employees that made his company successful. The same employees that made him wealthy. The same employees that can be replaced very easily. WHAT AN IDIOT !!!

I invite YOU and my fellow technicians to check the link below. SEE and HEAR the CNN interview yourselves. GUARANTEED... if Altice employees visit the link below to hear and see what this CEO did for HIS employees, it would bring YOUR futile efforts and acts of "sincerity" to shame.

Here's are exerpts of your communiqué with my recommended editing and comment.

"There are people outside of our company that are trying to scare you to the point of making up lies about our company, about our team, and even about me personally."

My God, how you can honestly believe that "these lies" CANNOT be unproven via information from the internet. That "these lies" were created and placed by "outside forces", militants, dissidents, disruptors, purveyors of deceit and chaos. Yet... YOU WILL NOT PROVIDE THE EVIDENCE OR WEBLINKS, TO PROVE OTHERWISE. Inquiring minds want to know.

I would suggest submitting YOUR PROOF of these lies with weblinks that are NOT Altice-controlled or owned. This would prove no bias and silence these "naysayers of truth." That'll shut them up!

"... we are providing you with each of our contact information below."

Do YOU honesly think that YOUR employees will contact YOU? For what? To hear the "same old, same old"? To hear your "positive spin" to make it sound less bad than it actually is? Your kidding, right???

"Our customer experience will be best in class..."

Oh, really? YOU know, as well as YOUR employees, that customer experience is down the toilet. But,don't take the technicians word for it. ASK THE CUSTOMERS THEMSELVES!!

".... because we will be providing a service with the most talented employees in the industry..."

Yeah, right. Customer service being handled by Texas, North Carolina and the Dominican Republic, at the lowest wages possible. For money, you get honey. What you see is what you get. You get what you pay for. Need more cliches?

"... delivering the cutting edge products customers are seeking."

Your technicians want to know where are the ample supplies needed to deliver the cutting edge products customers are seeking. Radio Shack is closing down and the only splitters you'll find are at Divorce Court.

"...I want to close by once again letting each of you know that I am committed to the Altice team and look forward to working together to accomplish our vision."

Yes, indeed YOU are committed to the Altice team. And no one else. YOUR employees are NOT part of this team. A "true" team experiences BOTH the good and the bad, the ups and downs... TOGETHER. YOUR hope is to have YOUR employees believe you are free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy.

YOUR employees KNOW their battle is lost. YOUR employees know their time might soon come. They feel it. They smell it. They hear it. YOUR employees are uneasy and saddened by the upheaval and dessimation of what was once a proud company. How it used to be that technicians from competing companies "wanted in". How YOUR employees used to meet outside the depots, to talk nonsense, laugh at weak jokes, or ask how the family was doing. Being able to "talk" to dispatch and know them by name through the sound of their voice. But now, all you have are "ghost towns" disguised as work places.

Here's the link to the CNN interview. If only this Gravity CEO can pass along a small portion of his passion towards his employees to YOU would be a miracle greater than the parting of the Red Sea.

http://money.cnn.com/2015/04/14/news/companies/ceo-pay-cuts-pay-increases/index.html

Only last week I drove by my old stomping grounds in the Bronx. Just wanted to say "hi". All the gates were down. Gates that used to be open, where employees used to greet each other. Where at times you may find free buttered roles or donuts provided by CABLEVISION. When every now and then, pizza pies were waiting at the meeting room at the end of the day shift. At a time when coming to work wasn't so bad afterall.

I've met you once when you were brought in from Brennan. We exchanged a few words. You "seemed" like a nice guy. But you were new to us. Who would've predicted the calamity to come. And now YOU seriously expect YOUR employees to believe YOU, after all that has happened.

A quote from the movie, The Usual Suspects: "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he doesn't exist."

Altice managed to convince employees that all they have heard and read is false and does not exist. YOU want YOUR employees to give YOU a chance to prove these "lies" wrong. And look what it's got them, thus far. Now YOU want a second chance.

Sometimes giving someone a second chance is like giving them an extra bullet for their gun because YOU missed them the first time.

My advise to YOU is..... this time..... shoot straight.... and just put them out of their misery. YOU don't need them..... only their replacements. They have NO UNION, so they haven't a leg to stand on.

WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE

None of this matters if it stays on this site!

All big news networks want a story

What good does it do (now) to co tinue posting on this site and not bring it to the attention of the media?

There are enough posting on here.

Find media that is willing to take a look at this site, do the work, make the story.

If all we do is chatter amongst ourselves about "what has happened or what is coming" then we have done nothing.

Its like being in a boat and rowing toward the waterfall that everyone talks about.

Call the media conglomerates and aak to be anonymous at first because of fear of backlash.

That email is from a month ago, it's nothing new. If anyone read that and felt positive, you're a fool anyway. This company has given no positive reinforcement that it gives a damn about anyone other than its pockets, and whether union or not, it will not help. Just sit back and ride the waves as it crashes into an iceberg.

Dolan convinced you way back when that you didn't need a union and then sold the company for billions, He didn't care what happened to the employees that helped build the company for him. Now you're being asked to accept more pain so that the current guy, who is worth 10 billion dollars, can become worth 40 billion dollars. Wake the hell up, people.

My position was being eliminated so I was trying to stay a little longer to get vested in my 401k. I transferred to another dept in the company and was told by hr it was lateral and I would get my 4% raise because I was a strong performer last year. I moved over to new dept and guess what no 4% raise. I emailed and called hr, they were super shady about it. Never put anything back in writing and then made my boss call me in his office to do the dirty work of telling me I wasn't getting the raise. don't trust these people for a second. They are scum and have no empathy for people. Good luck and I can't wait till I'm gone.

Thanks! I would believe the first step should be that EVERYONE got this email. That's PP's first mistake with sending this out. I worked very hard to build the foundation of this company and extremely capable of executing any future goals. Unfortunately I'm left out. Why? Because I'm part of a union. PP be part of the solution and not the problem. If I lose my job tomorrow it's ok, I went down fighting. It will be your loss not mine. Unfortunately for you, quitting is not my style. The environment of fear placed on hard working individuals the past year has been the worst I have witnessed on my lifetime. How do you sleep at night with the grief you caused to so many?

here's a quote from James Dolan immediately after Brooklyn voted in union back in 2012.

"Give this company a chance. Give this management team a chance to show you that it does care about you as employees and values you as employees."

sound familiar?

Here's the email, my friend.

"Change is never easy, as you know we are all working through changes at a very rapid pace. We are also aware that we have much to do to improve communications, to improve operational processes, and to improve our overall employee experience. There is much to do, but we can make significant progress if we work together to address the challenges that are in front of us.

You have heard us discuss the fact we are working to change our industry and become the industry leader. We have a plan which we have already started executing, however changing an industry is not going to be easy. We really need everyone to be part of the change and work with us. There are people outside of our company that are trying to scare you to the point of making up lies about our company, about our team, and even about me personally. In an effort to ensure you have access to the truth, facts and your leadership team we are providing you with each of our contact information below.

I know this transition has not been easy. I am asking each of you to recognize that if we pull together as a team, and we work together to address each challenge and obstacle we will get to the other side of our transformation. Our employee experience will improve because each of you will be engaged in creating it. Our customer experience will be best in class because we will be providing a service with the most talented employees in the industry delivering the cutting edge products customers are seeking.

I want to close by once again letting each of you know that I am committed to the Altice team and look forward to working together to accomplish our vision.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to each other and our customers."

Warmest Regards,

Pragash Pillai
