If you have access to your DM's AS/400 you will see.... Service plans and services represent LESS than 1% of retail sales and LESS than 2% of margin in retail. MUCH less than 1% of our total company sales. Why are we shoving these things down our own customer's throats? They aren't worth that much to us. Nor do they offer much value to the customer. I could understand the idea of asking every customer if they would like to protect their investment. But the job threats we get for not selling enough of them is not worth this stress. I think it is time to fill the internet with the understanding that we are losing our job when people don't buy the warranties and that is all Staples cares about even though it is a tiny part of our business. Two things could happen. People will feel bad for us and buy a warranty. Or they will boycott Staples. At this point we are pushing the customers away anyway by forcing it on them, telling them to buy their laptop at another store, and using high pressure sales tactics.

They want associate to push this extra garbage with no incentive that's why they are pushing this inspired selling , coaches corner, goal cards on us holding us accountable for it . I get crap from my sales mgr about not making any money of laptops then why do we sell them makes no sense. the AS400 does no show you true numbers as far cost and margin. Staples looses no money on at all .
Very likely kickbacks are being paid for Square Trade. It would make more sense to give associates a small commission of them, but they refuse. Someone also made bank off liquid armor. I am sure there were kickbacks for that and then Staples bought out the distributors stock of it when they went under.

AS400 does not tell you the true cost of the product / service nor does it tell you the true margin.
No morals at all. All the posts about wrongful terminations should tell you that much.
Right now it's all about the execs getting the biggest payout they can.
Staples tracks rush fees? Instead of selling their customers quality products, they're going to sell rush fees and force the associates to apply them as much as they can or else? This company has no morals.
I wonder how much of this extra bull crap is created by DM's ,RVP's and SVP's goal cards, ink to printer esp, liquid armor, ink to paper, phone repair, more accounts, csat, kiosk orders, conversion, all this bull crap we track wasting paper in the print center to make flyers and cards for this crap . How much more of these metrics . Oh I almost forget the copy center RUSH FEE that they are tracking now .
Staples retail is circling the drain anyway, no one will care. Even 2% of margin adds a lot to exec bonuses.
