Thread regarding ADP layoffs

ADP severance question

If they lay you off, you'll get a severance package and it's a pretty good one. I was laid off and got 20 weeks severance after 8 years. Another teammate was laid off, after 28 years at ADP, and got 26 weeks. Hang around for the severance and then get another job so you can have double income for about 3-6 months (depending on your severance package).

This was posted by @NRVfKMk-Kkkt, but I was wondering if this is true? I thought you get one week pay for every year you have been with the company? Does ADP have a different system to allow for 20 weeks severance for 8 years?

When I received my package I was a loyal employee of ADP for approximately 21 years and I received 22 weeks of severance. Another employee who had 10 years of service received 20 weeks of severance. I did apply and received unemployment compensation which was not contested by ADP. This is generally based on state laws in which you work or reside. What was lost to us by accepting these packages were our rights to sue ADP for any past discretions against us. We also lost our pension allocation for the current year and our 401k match for the current year because we left prior to December 31st, of the current year.

I have been told by other severed employees the cobra insurance has cost their families approximately $1500 per month for continued health insurance after their termination.

I would highly recommend anyone who currently works there and has any type of seniority and decent pay to save as much as you can through personal savings or 401k deferrals, keep your networking skills strong, obtain or maintain an FPC, CPP, PHR, or PMP Certification, update your resume, create a strong linked in profile and just remain prepared for whatever is yet to come.

We have been told that they are now closing offices in both the Ft. Washington PA and Richmond VA locations....some people receive a nice severance package while others get fired instead and receive nothing while upper management including the CEO continue to receive high salaries and bonuses. What I do not understand is how they don't see how their actions are destroying this company. Maybe they know and just don't care because while they throw others to the curb who are going to struggle to pay their bills, put food on their tables and keep a roof over their heads, the VP CEO rest comfortably in their beds at night....these people destroy the integrity and foundation that this company was built on

Hi, when you collected your package we're you collecting unemployment at the same time? If so what state do you reside in?

This company does not give everyone severance pay. Some employees work there for years and several long time employees with outstanding performance that were there for 10-25 years were let go with no notice by incompetent supervisors who lacked experience in the payroll field.

Be thankful you get anything at all from this sh--ty company that is slashing jobs every month around the country.

You used to get two weeks of severance pay for every year that you worked for ADP. However, for whatever reason, ADP no longer goes by that rule. The maximum that a laid off person can get for severance is 26 weeks no matter how many years were worked. Thus, the laid off person who worked for 28 years should have gotten 56 weeks. I don't know about the person who worked for 8 years but got 20 weeks of severance pay. I suppose deals can be made and it is a big company and I only worked at one location.

However, within the last year, I saw plenty of people who were slated to be laid off but were FIRED instead because of incompetence. Of course, they did not get any kind of severance. Presumably, the reason for this is that it saves ADP a lot of money. Severance is a company entitlement anyway, so don't count on it.
