Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Hamburg

Went to the Hamburg store yesterday.

I used to work at the Hamburg store and, since I left, I would regularly go back and visit my friends who still worked there.

When I walked into the store, I was shocked at how much it has changed.

I was last there in March on this year.

1) I didn't know anyone there. Where did they go?

2) Few Outfitters on the floor.

3) A noticeable reduction of taxidermy .

4) Not many customers.

5) One register open.

6) No crowd at the gun counter.

This is the flagship store in the Cablea's system and the reduction in everything was striking.

I was looking for a specific shotgun load, they didn't have it.

So, after a depressing 20 minute walk around the store, I left empty handed and disappointed that I didn't know any of the people on the floor.

You notice what every customer has

Two easiest things to control. Inventory and labor

Notice more managers!

Less employees

They are firing most long term employees because of poor club performance

The club is now the sale. The sale is the add on

I am also an ex employee who visited one of the stores to buy an advertised item that was on sale. The store was so dark due to so many burned out light bulbs that I could not read the shoe box labels without using the flashlight on my phone. I also went into the bathroom on the way out and every paper dispenser was empty and it looked like the bathroom had not been cleaned for weeks. I did not see any familiar faces, in fact I didn't see any outfitters except the cashier. Sad demise.

It is worse at other stores - filthy, nobody there, no merchandise
