Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Morale issues post-layoff

For those readers who are still emplyed at Sabre, how is the morale around your areas?

Here in Southlake, this latest round of hits have really hit employees hard. Not to take anything away from the trauma that those who were let go must be feeling, but what the executives have left behind is another cause for concern.

Having been through numerous cycles of layoffs at Sabre over the past 15 years, you come to expect a certain level of anxiety and questioning of management as a reaction, but this time we're noticing something definitely different. There is a general disgust settling in towards all upper management and a feeling that Sabre will not be able to turn the corner this time and move forward. Not that it will be going out of business or sold off or anything like that in the nearterm, but that the future will be one of retreatment within sectors of the industry followed soon by a large exodus of talented people voluntarily leaving the company to look for a more positive and stable employment scenario elsewhere.

Its a sad change in the overall environment to be witnessing.

This company is really poorly managed. I had work there for 10 years and saw this behavior every year. Finally had tired of it all and just walked out one day and found something better within a week. Worrying about job security or rather insecurity can paralyze people. After the new job I realized how far behind I had gotten in technology. I joined as a contributor and made it to the top to Director level with lots of hard work and late nights. But I was never happy as I would see many of my peers let go year over year and along the way I lost some very good employees. But life has changed within the new company and I truly understand the work life balance. Best wishes to all that have made it and my best wishes for all looking for new opportunities.

Morale is naturally low. How can we trust in things getting better in 18 months of slow down and don't release new product? Only financial charts showing downturns were shown a justification for "unfortunate actions." No reassurances were given that this is over. The expense reductions have to offset the investments made. My guess is that 27%of The company some noted weeks ago will be accurate in quarterly 9% intervals.

From my part being long time employee of Sabre from outside of dfw I'm actually thrilled. I don't have trust yet that highest executives know what they're doing, but... most of the names I've seen laid off where pretty bad people that don't belong to software industry. They were focused on politics rather than actual expertise of their area a d getting rid of them was very smart move.

Sure there were some that were unlucky, but majority are plain bad.

In a lot of conversations where those names are brought up I hear "finally".

Having said that... there is low trust that current management knows what to do next.

Also... VP level in P&T wasn't touched much and without huge change there Sabre is not going anywhere.

It will definitely be very bad. Now the management needs to answer

  • what is there for present employees.

  • why the new talent should join sabre.

Definitely another 10 percent will leave by the end of 2017.
