Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Marketing deadweights

Yes way too many of them. When will they realize and that something has to happen?

"There are a few account teams that are good, and a sh-- tonne who don't have a clue about customers and just peddle what they're told to peddle."

...which primarily means booking the orders that HP, Dell and others actually sold to their accounts...

The whole lot is useless, in my experience.

@O7qFKYt-1jcg was my comment, and I'm an engineer who works with field and sales groups across GAR, EMEA, and APJ/PRC. There are a few account teams that are good, and a sh-- tonne who don't have a clue about customers and just peddle what they're told to peddle.

It's always funny when engineers complain about marketing. Why don't those engineers start a company if they know so well how to run an efficient business?

Sales org hired back loads affected by ACT. Their VP needs to be cut and has for a while. Need to gut the org. Hell HPE is moving away from Intel where possible and that used to be a cash cow. Account teams are now more sales and business than engineers. Need to cull that flock hard.

@1qth you are spot on and this isn't an isolated example. Go up that chain and you'll see that there are way more strategists than those that actually do the dirty work.

The executive level has been playing a losing game of chess for years, giving up (sacrificing) all their pawns to protect their king. Joke.

Agree, and no more so than the marketing dead-weights in the Transportation division of IoTG.

The ringleaders there came over from SSG a couple of years ago and have succeeded to date in achieving zero when it comes to impacting the market. One in particular rabbits on in meetings about his "actionable insights" when all he succeeds in doing is dressing up his linked-in profile.
