Thread regarding Siemens AG layoffs

Noone is talking about the Siemens layoffs in Charlotte, NC?

We're in process of laying off people at the Siemens manufacturing plant in Charlotte. Just over half are production blue collar jobs and almost half are white collar jobs. What is amazing is they won't even consider retirement packages for those willing to take it, who are only 2-3 years from full retirement age, and some past retirement age. They hired some of the affected people only 4 months ago...that is a management issue. There are several management problems here, and the plant is very top-heavy. Overall, it is a good place to work, although it hurts to see those affected right now, caused by management's poor decisions. For those who aren't affected yet...be careful. The second round will be coming.

The party is over folks.

The days of power and gas is declining rapidly.

And coal is dead.

It will be the new owners to decide your fate.

Management will be gone with golden parachutes.

And they don't care about you.

What happened to the “deep cuts” in January? Its not end of February and still no deep cuts. I feel bad for the 100 or so people effected this far, but is that the end if it? Not everything is doom and gloom.

I haven't heard of the second round yet but after the GN announcement last week, it is sure to come. HR has a mess on their hands and, to the detriment of the real workers, they don't know what's going on (all new). They do what they are told instead of 'following the handbook' as promised. Good thing there are so many job openings...lol...funny, not funny.

Good luck to everyone who is left after this round. Management can do better to protect their people.

Bad management and no transparency. they lie to the workforce. And management only cares about there bonus at the end of the year. Plus want workers to hurry up so that they get there bonus. The second round is going to be a bloodbath for sure. Human Resources dept. don't even know the company handbook very well and they want to change things on it...plus management hides bad managers to different areas of the plant...totally wrong in my book...so they took state money and filled all these jobs with incompetent people that are posers in the right sense....If they do heavy cuts here they better move to another state cause when you act like a fool to the workers you might not like what your going to get out on the street when you meet me ..you might get your a-- kicked hard when you meet me out on the streets in Charlotte for sure...theres your fair warning management....dont let that smart a-- mouth get your teeth knocked out...

I've noticed that layoffs at Siemens are part of the annual budgeting process. I am one of those who've come to work for Siemens because of the company name. Unfortunately management is more concerned with their own well being. Not uncommon but a dissapointment. Especially since I gave up sales for going back to engineering. Now I am at the mercy of bad management and bad sales practices. When you rely on project managers to manage your sales relationships it's a predictable result.

I agree. Terrible management. People left other jobs to come work at Siemens within the last 6 or so months and now they are being layed off and left with no where to go. Have you heard when or if the second round is coming?
