Thread regarding Sears layoffs

@1pwe, when did they tell you that your store was closing? Today? Was it on one of the publicized closing lists?

lol, "pass the crack pipe", lol, "things will be great in 2018" - those comments crack me up.. I am a smoker - I go on my morning break and afternoon break - you must be out there too if you see me. Or maybe you are in the fitness center for an hour looking out the window then you take another 1/2 hour to eat lunch. For sure- someone is in a big shock soon.

My only comment on this thread is that jagoff is spelled with one g.

They just told us our store was closing after being told time after time we would be the last to go. So much for that.

Good Luck Danny Boy. You don't have a clue. Eddie's ONLY concern I'd himself. He's been screwing this company and all of the people that work here since day one. He should be in jail. Where's the government oversight for carpet baggers? Sign me up to loan myself money at 8% interest and keep all the valuable assets as collateral.

Did anyone think that the OP might be one of the guys who is super sarcastic who writes on this forum quite frequently. Don't let someone who is being sarcastic get you so upset.

It doesn't work this way realistically. Just "doing your job" does not preempt yourself from the possibility of a layoff.

It can help a little in the consideration process but not as much as you'd think. Dedicated workers get laid off all the time. Lazy clock watchers escape the axe all the time.

Forgot to tell the OP do your job and you will be perfectly fine? Tell that to my lead that just got fired for doing her job. She was a good lead, but a complete tool. She would do whatever the managers told her to do and she would be running around taking code 2 and code 3's. She was getting paid minimum wage being a Lead than store manager says her position got eliminated. So much for doing your job and you will be fine OP LOL....

The company is already bankrupt. You are in a fantasy world. The only reason Eddie hasn't made it official is because he is trying to save Seritage. Do you think most companies have a CEO who simply loans more money to keep the lights on anytime they are short on cash? Guess what? Eddie doesn't have much left he can lend. If bankruptcy doesn't happen this summer, just wait until the company has to figure out how to fund inventories for the 2017 holiday season.

He literally loves me now......and i think most of that is due to helping him out with his job.....and i dont really fear losing my job because were getting things done.

This is so true...I dont work at sears but I am constantly looking to do things better and always trying to do something..

One tip that i do is i always ask my boss for the think that he doesnt want to do.....i literally ask him whats the one thing you despise the most and I tell him I got it. Now there are some things that he has to do, i cant firesomeone when its his job to do that, but theres plenty of things i can help him out with and over time that trust grows..

Wow. The truth is, at the store level at least, you're pretty safe from the layoffs unless you're in a management position. Those are the positions that keep getting cut.

@eet Agree what about what he said OP? Do your job and you will be fine? Well I am sure majority did their job and guess what got the boot. No matter what OP Sears is going down your the one in pure denial hopefully the next layoffs isnt you so keep praying to your god Eddie Lampert.

Go ahead and give that speech to the 400 who got let go at HQ 2 weeks ago, or the 300 that go let go before that in/after Feb, or to those who work and who will lose their jobs at the 300 stores that will close this year, still you're fine so that's great and so is your leader.
