DMs and VPs are finally on the hot-seat as much as GMs and they are panicking.

Top line sales and bottom line profits should be all that matters, but since they know those are trending down they make it about everything else. If you are not cheating to beat the flavor of the month metric they will replace you because now it's their a-- on the line.

How does asking people to give you a 5 on a survey help the company make more money? The survey should be used like a survey. " I think your customer service was a 4, but product selection was a 3. I couldn't find photo corners ". It should be feedback to HQ. Not a metric that should be manipulated. Asking people to give you a 5 on the survey is silly. The survey should sit there on the bottom of the receipt and not be spoken about. If someone sees the surgery and takes it, then it is honest feedback.

Shira and co are looking for a s---er to buy Staples and award them a cash grab bigger than what their golden parachutes already offer.

Failing that, there is still money up for grabs. Someone at corporate is making a lot of money on this side through kickbacks and/or similar schemes. They will hang around until they get a big payoff.

I was a Store Manager is several stores and have led some very successful stores in Texas. My assistant manager left almost two years ago and I should have followed. I stayed like and idiot and was told in every way to "cheat cheat cheat" get those surveys. I got those surveys and when they fired my DM and the new DM came in his canned me quicker than quick sand. I was one of the highest paid and had over 10 years.

If you get caught cheating they will not have your back. I know a g.m. was told to do what ever it takes to sell liquid armor. They used coupons and some one called it in and the long term g.m. was fired.

Stores should be able to rate DMs & upper management, as well as the DCs. All these Framingham people think they are the best thing to hit the business world, when in truth, they all s---.

Start firing the RVPs (especially VS) and then work upwards.

Former GM here: Another joke of a survey....most of the metrics this company uses are flawed and manipulated to make certain people look good. These metrics are outdated, have little validity, CSAT comes to mind. Have thousands of customers in a month and only 53 rate you and that is an HONEST reflection of how you take care of the customer. All of upper management should be given no more than a 1. They have wrecked this company, it's morale, and it's customer base with no one held accountable. Rate honestly or be a hypocrite is what I say. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!

New a guy who bought a burn phone for cast. He was always platinum and now he is a d.m. He averaged calling in 10 surveys a week. He placed a trash can in the lobby and collected random receipts from there.

All I will say is, pull the policy on CSAT. Read it carefully!! Have it ready for a grand jury. If you have emails or texts where higher ups are asking to break policy by asking for 5's or even mentioning the survey it break company policy. If your fired or written up for not breaking policy then it's like winning the Lottery.
