Thread regarding DeVry Inc. layoffs

Why would they close now?

Why would they close now, after all of the results to bring up the school to the top level? Put all the monies where they belong, for the students to get where they need. I couldn't argue more then saying the next year will prove the doubters wrong, on every condition.

@NsvF11J-5qsm apparently you have trouble with reading comprehension. Most of the posts on this board are employees who are talking about the shady practices and sketchy management of this company. Stop being a troll and actually read what's going on so you won't be surprised when the company you are trying to defend lays you off with the rest of us.

@NsvF11J-5qsm - sounds like you're a troll paid by the school.

@NsvF11J-5qsm, it's more than for-profits.

Camden is just a troll on for profit schools. It's like if you wanted fight cancer, so you go on Marlboro's website, and a bunch of other big names, and trash talk the company to its workers, and post stats showing that smoking is bad. That's Camden.

They will close because Camden said so and Camden knows everything and what's best and what's right for everyone!

I think they want to keep it, for diversity of programs. Chamberlain passed devry for student count, but there's still thousands of students that go to devry. Hopefully they continue with student centered ed.

Though I think an attempt to sell DVU is likely, I doubt that it will happen soon. The execs made DVU sound really promising to the investors the other day at Adtalem Investor Day. I hope the investors are smart enough to see through the shallow logic and unfounded optimism upon which our leadership feeds, but either way, it would look awfully suspicious to them if we said "DeVry University is in a promising position for huge growth in the coming year!" and then immediately hung a "For Sale" sign on it. I'm sure they'd find some way to spin it as they always do.

On second thought, this is the same organization that said "your campus will keep the BMET program" and then laid off all the BMET faculty only two weeks later. So I guess anything goes.

Good luck with that! EDMC (Art Institutes, Argosy and South) couldn't find a real buyer after searching for several years. They sold it all to a cult-like religious group called the Dream Center for only $50 mil cash after buying it for $350 mil or more just 4 years ago.

The stats say otherwise, so admissions shouldn't get too excited. If they were consistently bringing in the numbers like they think, this company would not have laid off almost 50% of their workforce in the last 4 years.

I think DVU will get sold off if there is a buyer. If there isn't one then who knows what will happen. I don't expect the Adtalem (AKA Mad Tale) name will last long though. It sounds like an anti-depressant.

UOP and Kaplan both found buyers. I'm sure Adtalem will also in the very near future. They've already sold the buildings they own. Many employees still have faith in the company. I know admissions advisors who feel untouchable because they think they bring the students in. But then there are faculty who are smart enough to know that Adtalem Global is slowly going down.

@NsvF11J-xbz That's only if someone wants to buy it. Many of the schools that have closed in the last couple years did so after attempting unsuccessfully to find a buyer. Le Cordon Bleu was on the market for more than a year without any takers.

DeVry University will not close, it will be sold off and then the new owners will change the name and merge it into their organization.
