Thread regarding Walgreens Boots Alliance layoffs

If I would only known 6 months ago that Walgreens was going to lay me off June 1st 2017 I would have taken the first job I was offered before Walgreens, I have been a very good employee and I worked my butt off, but due to company "cutbacks" I will be getting laid off. It's almost like the union- last one Higher first to fire, and not based on job performance obviously. Thanks Walgreens for being the first company that has ever laid me off or fired me or whatever you want to call it. I was told 6 months ago that I could go far with the company if I worked hard, and kept a good attitude obviously that was a lie. Of course I learned about this layoff over the phone a few weeks ago from my boss, and haven't even been pulled into the office to discuss anything further in person. I mean how much more unprofessional can you get! It's an hourly position if it was management I would understand the cut back but why not just cut my hours? I mean is the company in such a Dire Straits (being the 12th largest retailer in the world) to not be able to pay a few dollars to an employer that only works four days a week? But it's for the best I was never treated like a valued employee from the beginning no matter how hard I worked.

I totally know the feeling...I was hired back in October of 2017 and now I'm being let go due to budget constraints. I was also told I could go "as far as I wanted to" at Walgreens. It's also the first time I have ever been laid off.

Yup, I got the same thing here. 6 months...sad thing is there happens to be a person getting a promotion and pay raise. If the budget is so tight, why are they giving someone a promotion?

Every single employee at my Walgreens were forced to take pay cuts ,including the Pharmacists, and put in extra hours (unpaid) to keep their jobs. We are in a shortage area and everything costs more but no one cares. They pile on the work for older employees and try to humiiiate them into quitting. They tell them that they must be 'evaluated' weeky until their 'performance' improves or they will be terminated. Then they document it and put it in their record This all happened after the Boots merger.

Walgreen's Boots Alliance has gone topsey turvey! From the time the merger took place, Boots has had to struggle with Walgreen's ethics, or I should say, non-ethical ways. The British company was great to work for gave an OK salary, commissions, brought benefits in and for awhile was a decent company treating its employees fairly well. Now with Walgreen's in charge, it seems all hell has broken out. No more benefits, no commissions, no more decent hours, frozen salaries, and to top it off you are demanded to work harder with higher goals and no incentives to honor your achievements. I won't step into a Walgreen's store ever again.

Well we all know that this employees name is Katy. She was hired in December. 2016 pt time weekends only but she called out either 1 or all 3 days she was scheduled. She did get laid off for about 3 weeks she had been back about a month and guess what? She missed this whole weekend!!! If anyone has complaints it would be from her co workers who have to pick up the slack! We are mad as hell!!!

It amazes me how people overstate their position when complaining about things. Leaving out the important stuff like calling in, going home early etc. Then it's "poor me"

I am with you I put in 14 months almost the same date....So this is corporate wide. There's at least 3 of us at my store. I'm sorry your SM was that way....By phone wow.....
