Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

ACCSC denied the accreditation for all 12 Everest schools

They are not meeting graduation or placement requirements.

Zenith still has 14 months to improve these numbers before title IV funding gets pulled.

I can't believe any of these schools were accredited. SAD...SAD...SAD. THIS SAYS A LOT ABOUT ACCSC. I have No Respect for ACCSC...they must have their eyes CLOSED when they grant accreditation to institution where employers Refuse to hire their graduates.

Unbelievable they were accredited again. This accreditation group must be a joke for profit group. This will continue the rip off of students. So sad. The fleecing of taxpayers needs to stop.

Which 4, I heard none were approved yet and may not be. I know for sure online got shot down completely and were advised not to resubmit.

Actually 4 just got approved so this isn't totally accurate. How they got approved with terrible outcomes is beyond comprehension but I guess money talks.

First off, the senior management and board of directors for ECMC and Zenith Education Group are the same people. Second, the people who worked at the Department of Education under Obama were all for putting the for-profit companies out of business at any cost so none of them will talk. Maybe the new administration will find all the corruption and fraud inside the DOE like they did in HUD and the State Department.

Everest Online was the money maker all those years ago.. Is that where Judy T. has been for the last 2 weeks--looking for another made up job???

A Associate Press reporter hit them hard a couple of years ago. I just went back and read his article. Maybe he would do a follow up story on the ECMC DOE angle. Maybe former DOE officials from Obama admin would talk now that they are gone. I think this is the more compelling story. No company would lost this much money on crappy schools without a reason. It seems like the reason is worth two BILLION dollars.

Let me guess, even with all these losses and enrollment declines the senior management and boards of ECMC and Zenith remain in tact? This shows you that this was all about a sweetheart deal with the DOE and they are all laughing all the way to the bank. Whoever has a national press contact needs to get this story to them. It is time for a major investigative piece.

Everest Online is closing and is in teach-out. This is the beginning of the next round of closings and consolidations coming. Anyone else remember when Online had the largest student population of all of CCi schools? It had the largest population of all the schools Zenith took over and soon it will be just a memory. Serious consideration is being looked at with consolidating the WyoTech schools and the the remaining Texas schools. Things are not looking good for us.

I don't know how long the board of directors are willing to lose money on Dave Hawns fantasy of being the "Largest Non-profit Education Company in the Country". Apparently Dave Hawn realized last year Zenith Education Group is going nowhere and abandoned ship. We are about 40% the size we were when ECMC bought us and it looks like we could possibly become 50% smaller than we are now. At some point in the very near future there needs to be a plan implemented for the 12 schools that lost their accreditation because time is running out if any of these schools have to be taught out. Haven't heard anything lately about Taylor, but he made the statement last September he would only be doing this gig for one year.

Only an idiot would continue to spend money to attend this school. What a severe waste of tax payer money.

Are any of these campuses close to meeting standard? Management doesn't share any details with us which i take is a bad indicator.

Thank you for clarifying. In essence don't you agree that this is really bad for ALL employees. That is half the campuses and half your revenue.

Zenith has 18 months from December 2016 to find accreditation for the Everest schools under ACICS. They actually applied to ACCSC in August of 2015 for accreditation when they got the inside information from the DOE that ACICS was being shut down by the DOE sometime in 2016. They have been trying to meet the requirements for ACCSC since 2015 and have yet to do so. They can reapply to ACCSC every 90 days at which time ACCSC will re-evaluate the schools status and either grant the accreditation or recommend further improvements. So technically they have both 90 days and 14 months, 90 days to re-submit to ACCSC or up to 14 months to find a DOE approved accrediting council for these Everest schools. If they don't succeed in acquiring accrediting these schools will lose the ability to receive title IV funds and VA funds. So in truth, these schools have been struggling since August of 2015 to meet Federal Student Loan requirements. Glad I don't work at one of those campuses. If you do, good luck.

Not thAt I don't agree but there were 4 or 5 that were denied but given until the may meeting to provide additional information. So do those campuses get 90 more days?
