Last time you got a raise with HPE?

Hello

I took a WFR in fall of 2015 and it was the best decision ever to leave HPE. I couldn't be happier at my new company.

At the time in 2015, we never received any merit based wage increases over the previous 4 or 5 years if I remember correctly.

I was just curious if that has been the same for most others since 2015 when I left?

NrxzgPX-1ypf, thank you for being so kind as to encourage others to leave the pit of despair that is HPE. Thank you for spreading the Good Word that the grass can REALLY actually be greener on the other side of the fence! And thank you for thinking of your fellow human beings, and warning them of stumbling blocks in their paths; on path being the HPE path... And the HPE path being heavily strewn by stumbling blocks of the likes of NrxzgPX-3dao ... Who has obviously bought the lie (hook, line, and stinker) that robbing the dignity and self-respect of others, gains dignity for oneself. Kinda like forced distribution reviews at HPE, where one is encouraged to make others look bad, so that we can look good...

You are so happy at your new job you take time to check out a website about HPE layoffs? LOL. I get raises every year. Those who don't obviously don't do a good job and aren't in a part of the business that is important. You can leave at anytime if you don't like it. No contracts at HPE.

Only time HPE gave me a substantial raise was in 2006 or 2007 when I got offered another job and HP matched it. After that I got only a 1% raise for a few years then that went away and small yearly bonuses till that went away too. Lack of both were reasoned away as caused by business performance (Enterprise Services)

Left in 2016 and walked into my new job earning way more than HPE would have ever paid me. Then three months in, I got another raise "because everybody gets one". I can get used to this.

In my last 10 years (worked on a government contract), the few raises I got didn't even keep pace with increases in the cost of living. Figuring for inflation, by the time I quit, it was like taking a $10k pay cut. Never got any bonuses. Sadly, I was still one of the better paid people on my team (I know this from catching sight of some figures on a spreadsheet my manager accidentally sent out)

My new job hired me in at market salary (15% increase in my pay) and on my first review, a raise and bonus. I'm on track to earn a maximum bonus and raise next go around.

HPE has a screwed up corporate culture that punished actual performers and discouraged managers from drawing too much attention to their top people. Nobody today should think of HPE as anything more than a temporary job to fluff up your resume, because the company certainly has no loyalty toward its employees.

Raises last three years. I think that you have to realize that your raise is tied to your business budget increase.

It depends on where in HPE you are, apparently. Glassdoor has lots of reviews saying raises are non-existent, but I got raises last 2 years (only started 3 years ago). First bonus was good, second meh (citing company-wide performance even though ours was good). We're getting MicroFocused this year so I assume this year's gonna s--- for us (they won't even commit to not screwing us on the 401k match that is, now, paid only if you work for HPE on Dec 31).

If they give you a job-grade increase without a raise, it means they are prepping to give you a bad review (per the higher standards of the higher job grade), so that they can pre-justify you being selected for the next lay-off... So it means, look for a new job NOW! Outside HPE if possible... Otherwise inside HPE if you don't want to be laid off. Last I heard, you could still take a job-grade cut to move to a different job at HPE... If you want to trade away your WONDERFUL new higher job grade for some supposed more job security, that is... The BEST way to get more job security while staying at HPE, though, is to get YOUNGER instead of OLDER...

Performance rating HPE is an absolute nonsense and it almost always is meant to be punitive and building up a case against the employees. It is a Tool HR has always used to hit employees hard now or in the future. In the few years they do give a good rating to an employee, it is usually those years when they can give you the excuse that company annual results are not good and so there is no raise or bonus for anyone. A great game they play for sure.

My opinion is that it all depend with what group/team you work with and the crap performance review process. I can’t really complain, I had raise every single year in the last 5 years, maybe this will be the first year that I may not get.

I got no raises from HP / HPE in like 7 or 8 years as I recall (cannot recall for sure). 5 years at the very-very least.

They are known for giving you a job-grade promotion w/o a raise (happened to me). I think they do this so that they can write harsher reviews on you, you know... Now that you are an "expert" job grade, we expect you to invent PC-powered time travel. If you don't, we can grade you harshly and we now have an excuse for selecting you to be laid off... And your bad review is used to scare you into NOT suing for discrimination, when you are laid off.
