Someone posted earlier about a GM sitting in the AP office and checking the cameras, about a store in the South Division. Well, I am here to confirm this, as someone in AP that works in the South Division. The earlier post was not about my store, but I know of things like this happening since "Senior Management" only care about numbers, and not outfitters, shrink, or theft.

Cabelas is a cesspool; there is absolutely no respect, leadership, and especially ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY! Not to mention that this place will be closing up shop once the Bass Pro consolidation finally goes through. No matter how much AP experience you have or where you came from before Cabela's, this place is a nightmare. Upper management is a joke, the GM and OPS manager only care about pushing CLUB cards to everyone that walks into the store, it's really sickening. On numerous occasions after an off day, I would routinely find my office was badge accessed or keyed into, and my computer used, , camera setting changed, and my shelves rummaged though. Upon CCTV review, it was determined that it was my store GM, and the "District Staff" that trounce through the store like lemmings.

Not only in my store, but across the board, AP is completely ignored and overruled for everything in the store. "Senior Management" doesn't care about shrink, credit card fraud, ORC, or even shoplifters. All they care about is pushing a stupid credit card to everyone who walks in the door and what comp sales look like. The Divisional managers won't respect you, and are racist and only care about themselves. If you aren't a part of the "brothers club", then you're out of luck.

They want you to work five 10 hour shifts for 50 hours a week, but literally, you complete your work, exception reports, investigations, and known theft the first day of your week, leaving the remaining 40 hours of the work week scrambling to find something to do. Nobody cares what shrink initiatives you push or try to implement to combat shrink. Your voice in the "managers meetings" do not matter, and you are surrounded by blithering idiots who never deserve to be in management in the first place. The culture at Cabelas of "needing" managers is absurd, and the quality of managers they hire is appalling, since most do not have retail experience, and haven't a clue on how to manager properly.

If you stand up for yourself against the racist and unprofessional tactics of your boss or co-workers, you will be black balled, and they will fire you. Don't believe me? I know co-workers in the South Division this has happened to, and the Divisional will also utilize your counter parts to spy on you, and try to engage you in conversations bad mouthing the boss and then reporting what you say back to the Divisional. How do I know this? Because the Divisional who stepped down to accept a GM position, asked me along with other peers. They even watch you on CCTV and listen into your office since there is a camera in your AP office with audio capability.

The brass at Sidney Nebraska will tell you that everything is business as normal, when in reality; you will be without a job in the very near future due to the consolidation with Bass Pro. DON'T TRUST ANYONE, since all they ever do is lie to you. They will not tell you the truth, because they do not want a mass exodus and everyone to leave at the same time. They will simply keep feeding you the corporate Kool Aid and hope you fall in line, and any deviance from their agenda will result in termination or a write up.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!! THIS PLACE WILL STEAL YOUR SOUL!

I wouldn't work here if my mortgage depended on it.
