Thread regarding CSX Corp. layoffs

Waycross Shop

Pulling levers, rotating gears. The heavy shops at Waycross and Cumberland are the next victims according to the rumors.

The big plan is starting to take shape. Are the service centers next? The search for efficiency continues. No wonder The Corbin shop is opening, the work will be done somewhere.

Because Corbin has Experience, an it is a new facility, the only reason it closed was C. King an C. Sanborn, they hated Corbin, tried to shut it down for years. We produced good Quality work unlike waycross, we get wayX's crap all the time that they pencil whipped, yeh they had good quality craftsmanship, hate to see anyone lose a job, but hey I've got family to I need to support, an I'd rather see my friends happy with a job supporting a family then a stranger. But rant over. OPEN CORBIN BACK UP THATS A REAL SHOP

Understand the Man and you will understand the plan.

Why? Why would Hunter Harrison open up a shop while closing others? What do the others have in common?

Inexperienced workforces with minimal years of service. This is not good for an operating ratio.

Old shops, crumbling infrastructure, it becomes a recurring theme. Ask yourself which is cheaper, trying to run repair facilities that can not produce or closing them and opening the newest shop that is sitting idle.

What do you think?

My money is on the experience and efficiency that a centralized shop on the system can produce.

Pay attention....Someone who knows is at the controls.

I agree with the above comment as well...... I just had a question.

Why would they pull work out of Cumberland and Waycross and then decide to open Corbin's Loco shop back up again? Can someone help me out here please?
