Thread regarding Automatic Data Processing Inc. layoffs

California offices next?

Well now that the Northwest offices have been given notice of closure; California is prime target for building closures - high business taxes, associate friendly labor laws, higher wages due to cost of living, many employee's with high tenure, etc.

ADP hiring 1,500 new associates in Tempe, AZ. (New hires equal lower wages)

Hmm...

ADPs master plan is unfolding. Sad but true.

It's starting in California now. I heard late yesterday from a coworker in another location that the Bay Area office will be closing within 3 months and layoffs occurred in another office located about 50 miles away. I would bet more to come as announcements have come in stages.

If anything occurs i.e. closures/layoffs communication will come out in first quarter new fiscal year as any reduction cost savings have been already baked in new budget for quarters 3 and 4.

I heard ADP's San Francisco office was recently given the "heads up this office will be closing". Maybe Calif is next on the chopping block.

I think it is very bad. Within the next several months almost everyone in California is going to be terminated one way or another. The allure of cheaper workers working in just a few offices is just too strong.

We'll see what happens next - I am not sure that all is doom and gloom
