Thread regarding SAP layoffs

SAP Layoffs are happening right now!

Restructuring @ SAP happens every year in Q1 and is over by the time SAPphire takes place - we should agree on this...

Every company has its top performers and bottom dwellers, top performers stay - if you are at the bottom you will be let go...

Sometimes the kindest thing is to show people the way out rather than keeping them spinning in a low production mode...

the managers have one skill surely?

they are keen learners from HR deparment and Change Management on how to get rid of employees in politically correct ways

there are power hungry people whose only reason for existence is to network and control resources and report on work done by their direct reports, they have no other capability no other creativity and can only fit into the manager role

Wow - I'm glad that they did not hire me now (choosing instead to hire others based on reasons not rooted in ability or skill). By the time their severance pay runs out, my business will be going at full throttle.

If everyone in sap is an adult and a professional, why do we need so many managers?

Any people from the fat layer of management let go? I bet not. Always the skilled employees, that could be retrained instead of the over paid ( and probably thousands of) managers that do not contribute to revenue.

Many of the people that were laid off were productive and some were even at customer place clocking money for SAP. Whoever who is talking about people "spinning in low production mode" in multiple threads, please go somewhere else. You do not need to propagate lies on top of other people misery. If your full time job is this type of propaganda on top of others misery the Kama will return to you most assuredly.

I just said goodbye to a colleague. He has been in SAP for over 15 years. He is dedicated, hardworking, responsible, excellent in engaging both internal and external stakeholders. His only flaw is he is in a department that has been reviewed by the gods and decidedly in a less-growing area. And he has not spent enough time keeping the powers-to-be happy. They gave him a payout and a career counseling service. The payout is probably enough to last him a year or two. As the sole income earner in his family, he worries about finding another job in this economy, and about his children's education. We are sad for him. As fellow colleagues, we think his role is still important for customers, and the loss of him would affect the customer support. But he is not in the s-xy Cloud business, so he is just out.
