Well put! And I am no business genius, but why would BP keep on the "leadership", the employees, and outfitters (most, not all) that have contributed to a company losing sales, customers, and have inept marketing? C'mon, most of the Cab merchants and marketing team still believe that a catalog is a main sales driver!! Literally, my 10 year old nephew knows better than that. Not the dinosaurs here, though. People at other retailers are laughing at Cabela's and are not surprised at all that this company is nosediving...why wouldn't BP think the same?

Please stop believing what these "leaders" are telling you. Now they want everyone to be positive after what they put us all through?? Gimme a *break.

I agree with Once and For All.........this is not a merger!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A MERGER!!!!!!!! Hopefully the all caps got your attention. The same directors that are calling this merger, are the same ones that ran this company into the ground!!!!!!!! Do you really want to listen to them? If any of the directors had any business education, they would know the difference between a merger and an acquisition. For those that don't know the difference, here is a short and sweet explanation: The merger means the fusion of two or more than two companies voluntarily to form a new company. When one entity purchases the business of another entity, it is known as Acquisition.

So tell me how this is a merger when Cabela's is not offering anything to BP and BP is paying money to buy Cabela's?!?!?!? Can't make it any more cut and dry than this. When/If this deal goes through, BP will own the rights to Cabela's and they can do what they want, since they will own Cabela's. Had this been a merger, both parties would have a say in day to day operations. Again, once the deal is done, BP will be calling the shoots. Cabela's/Sidney will have no say in day to day operations.

People keep posting that these two companies will merge and each side will be treated equally.

From the first page of Cabela's annual report:

On October 3, 2016, we announced a definitive

agreement which provides for Bass Pro Group

to acquire Cabela’s.

Acquire means to buy. When you buy something, it's yours, to do with as you please.

Stop sugar-coating the truth. Sure, BP, said there would be a presence in Sidney...that could be anything from keeping the DC to have a few desks here. Do not listen to this poster who keeps saying we should try and keep Cabela's here...all 2000 employees...it's pure fantasy

I agree, nearly everyone that I met from Sidney was a jerk. The people that treated others with respect and dignity didn't last.

I stand my the post in regard to the policy in regard to the merger. The statement had nothing to do with sales at all.

maybe the poster should read the post there was nothing about sales. The post was about the policy at Cabela's in regard to the merger or sale if you want to look at that way.

I have to chuckle at the last statement - Tommy and his gang fair - nice one - they ran the company into the ground and sold it - period and sales are tanking. This is not a merger.

One thing the poster need to realize this is a merger agreement. The agreement being discussed doesn't apply to just this directors but to every employee at Cabela's . It is being stressed over and over that in the merger agreement we speak only as one voice at Cabela's . This agreement apply to not only to the ceo but also to all my fellow employees. I really believe the directors who is putting together this agreement are drafting terms of a merger agreement not only in their best interest BUT EVERY EMPLOYEE AT CABELAS BEST INTEREST TO. I hear on this site over and over how the six directors is going to get this huge severance and the rest of the people nothing. However every employee at Cabela's know we have been told those making the decisions speak for what is best for every employee at Cabela's .. IN EVERY STATEMETN READ TO EMPLOYEES IT IS STATED WE SPEAK IN ONE VOICE IN REGARD TO THE MERGER. COMMON KNOWLEDGE EVERYONE WILL BE TREATED EQUAL AND FAIR.

While this doesn't define everyone at corporate, the corporate employees who made their money and climbed the ladder at Cabelas based on who they knew instead of actual skills, education or quality work should prepare themselves to go from being big fish in the little pond of Sidney to being little fish in the big pond of the rest of the corporate world. It's going to be a harsh dose of reality.

For those of us who are not in Sidney, we're having a real hard time feeling sorry for anyone who lives there. It seems like everyone of y'all that visited our store from Corp was an arrogant know it all that treated everyone else like kids. Now a lot of brown noses are getting a taste of what we've been dealing with for years.

sometimes these posts seems like they are always from the same chatter. The tone is always the same and supposedly from different chatters how dare someone said Cabela's isn't going to lay off employees or fire everyone . what my the end of July? The source is you heard someone in the hall way. Instead of posting some gossip you heard in the hall way. How about attending your next council meeting and saying we are shutting off lights at cabelas to save on expenses. WHY DOESN'T THE CITY COUNCIL FOUND THE SAME PRATICE. THERE HAS BEEN LAY OFF AT CABELAS AND PLANT CLOSING IN SIDNEY . WHAT IN THE HELL HAS THE CITY DONE LETS LOOK AS THE TOP MANAGERMENT. A few years ago WE HAD ONE PERSON AT THE TOP MANAGEMENT . NOW WE HAVE A ECONOMIC DEVELOPER A FIANICAL OFFICER AND A CITY MANAGER. HOW ABOUT CUTTING YOUR STAFF AND YOUR BUDGET INSTEAD OF THE NONSENSE SPEND SPEND SPEND SPEND POLICY , OH I FORGOT OUR ECONCOMIC DEVELOPER SAID LIFE AFTER CABELAS WILL BE FINE IN SIDNEY AND CITY OF SIDNEY IS ON THE RIGHT OF THE CABELAS ISSUE. THAT RIGHT ALL SHE IS HAS TO DO IS TAP HER HEELS TOGETHER AND SAY THERE IS NO PLACE SIDNEY THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE SIDNEY. MAYBE THERE IS A WIZARD OF OZ

How can anyone say unlikely? That timing would fall right in line with when the merger should be complete.
