Thread regarding AFLAC Inc. layoffs

Major IT restructure

A major IT restructure is happening. The rumor mill has it that half will be outsourced. Lots of secret meetings and signed NDA. Handled very badly, morale is low because of zero communication.

Just wait until they start with HR and Customer Service. Those projects are underway and rolling.

Forget EAW. Forget all the rah-rah stuff. In about two weeks, Aflac management will tell the IT workers how they REALLY feel about them. This one will be from the heart.

Rumors abound...everyone knows something, noone knows everything. Managers have signed NDAs, and been interviewed by gaining company. Rumor is that contract has been already been signed, last month. Employee asked manager about Rumors of Outsourcing, manager just sat stone faced. Would not say yes, wouldn't dispel rumor. Just sat there, with a blank stare. Says it all.

Offshore personnel are rampant at main building been so for some time. Must be about 50 onsite. Even more offsite. oursourcing Has been handled horribly by IT management and HR. Bunch of cowards. Very pathetic. Once great Culture of the company is dying. Oursourcing has been approved at the highest levels. So much for the value of each employee...company seems to distrust employees. CIO is failure...has absolutely no understanding of day-to-day operations, so cannot anticipate problems which happen when gaining company takes over. Doesn't seem to want to know either. But will blame others, no doubt.

Just take a look at the shoddily handled and failed major project incentives in IT to see what kind of quality offshore contractors bring to the table. Vendors are calling in with questions and knowledge of a significant IT restructure that the employees have been told nothing about. We are watching the beginnings of the downfall of an empire. It's only a matter of time before serious unethical behavior is exposed.

But yet Aflac has all the right "check box" processes in place as well as "manipulative" lingo to get on all the "100 Best..." lists. The Aflac reality is very different from what they present to the public. They lie about laying people off, and they lie about employees being their #1 focus. Profits are the focus, at ANY cost. They have forced overtime in the call center and claims...with no regard to how it impacts the employees, their health or their families. Aflac is NOT a family oriented company. They are a money oriented company. But they sure put on a good show for the public.

Paul Amos II has been trying to outsource all of IT to India for years. IT "restructuring" occurs non-stop--each time with large numbers of the workforce forced into lower level jobs or laid off. IT leadership micromanages to the point they drive away major talent. No one in IT ever feels safe or secure--they are constantly threatened.
