Thread regarding Kellogg Co. layoffs

Berkshire Hathaway rumor takeover of Kellogg

Rumors are floating around that Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A, BRK.B) may be considering a takeover of Kellogg ( K ) after the company's jet was spotted in Battle Creek, Michigan, recently, according to Street Insider. Warren Buffett's company could go it alone or team with 3G on the acquisition, but the latter's reputation as a corporate raider may make Kellogg hesitant, the news company said. At Berkshire's annual meeting in Omaha over the weekend, Buffett said 3G was good at making businesses more productive with fewer people, Street Insider said.

You alsp had a lot of reps just leaving product in the backroom amd not even trying to get it out on the floor. Yes autoships are bad for the business but the reps need to do theit part

Yes, Because the Berkshire Company Jet being in Battle Creek had nothing to do with the largest service provider of private aircraft being at the Battle Creek airport.

I honestly believe they were seriously looking at the DSD division of Kelloggs before the hammer dropped on us. BRK would have loved to pair that division with Coke to better compete with Frito and Pepsi.

The issue is the way Kelloggs evaluated the cost of the DSD part of the company. As we all know, if it comes in the backroom it's a sale in their eyes. So those are the numbers they used to assign a value to the DSD division. All based off us...or them via auto ships... jamming crap into the stores back rooms to hit a number. This is not sales. It's warehousing and is all Kelloggs knows.

Any company looking to acquire the DSD division of Kelloggs is going to want to see the Nielson Data. This shows what went through the register. So there was huge difference between Kelloggs evaluation and the amount of product that was actually being sold...at the register. No one smart is going to buy based on smoke and mirrors.

Clearly what Kelloggs made us achieve as a sales budget, wasn't a true sales budget but a warehouse budget. Until they concede this, they won't be able to sell off Keebler, Sunshine, Pringles and Austin any time soon. By the time they do wake up, Jane Q Consumer will be asking "what's Keebler?"
