Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Leaving IBM

I'm turning in my notice shortly.

I am wondering if there are any gotchas or quirks specific to IBM throughout the "leaving" process that I should be aware of.

Any helpful tips/hints/gotchas would be very much appreciated!!

HSA's (Health Savings Accounts) are yours to keep. You take that with you.

Definitley expend whatever you can from your Health Spending account, ensure you backup all your critical data, save your badge for discounts (oops, lost it), have a farewell party with your closest peers! Good luck!

Quit before Dec 15 and you are not getting your 401k match. Brilliant, isn't it... Also, make sure you use that personal holiday, that does not get paid out. Also, if you are doing Health Savings Account, HSA - see what the rules are there as you may lose that as well (I am guessing here) - I am sure you do not care at this point, so godspeed.

Good for you. I'm considering it also. There's a separation checklist on w3, find that and use it. There was also a good checklist at the IBM Alliance site. I'm not sure if it's still active, that effort shut down and the guy running it now has the Watching IBM facebook page, so maybe check or ask there.
