Being more knowledgeable that the one above you is about the easiest thing to do at APC. I've never had a manager with field experience or adequate knowledge of even the most basic aspects of our operations. They know how to kiss a-- well though. Being more competent than your manager and showing proficiency in your field is the quickest way to get a negative review and a secure escort out the door at APC.

And the younger folks generally don't question bad policies by managers. If you were more knowledgeable about the industry than your boss (which was usually the case) you got laid off.

Yep, the way to lose your job at Noble apparently is to be conoetent in your position. The more competent you are and the older you are will more likely get you the one way ticket out the door. They rather have younger and / or incompetent people on the payroll instead it seems. All about saving a buck or two once you get below the VP level.

So true - "doing almost everything except your job" defines many of the management from supervisors on up! Advisors, especially!

These companies sound like two peas in a pod. Anadarko rewards people for doing almost everything except your job. Should be a fitting partner to ride into the swamp with.

So did Anadarko, so they'll fit right in!

Noble kept all of the really young inexperienced people and the a-- kissers. So that's what is left at Noble. Good luck Anadarko!

I worked for Noble too. They use to have some good people, but that was awhile ago. The good ones were all laid off, retired or quit in disgust. The few people left are mainly the same managers who screwed things up or YP's who mean well but haven't got an inkling what to do (Noble's fake training program failed them). Worse is the much over hyped resource base. Stick a pin in it (or a well) and watch it disappear.

You don't want Noble unless you completely "clean house". I worked for them at one time. I've never worked with more incompetent people in my life. This includes managers and supervisors. Especially managers and supervisors.

Clearly the hedgefund guys don't like whatever APC is up to. Stock price at lowest in a year. Think about that for a while. All the wrong people in all the wrong positions. Including the top.
