I was let go in the big purge last year, after 7 year with the company - in the hindsight I should have left much earlier as this was by far the most stressful job I've ever had (30+ years of experience).
At Coke, nothing is ever good enough, you will be unreasonably pushed beyond your limits - among peers and management, it's frowned upon when you take vacation time. An old management control technique is still used, there is constant uncertainty that they love to hold over your head.
In short, everyone works way more than 40 hours a week, everyone takes their laptops home, connected via phone on weekends no matter where you go - this is is expected and this is Coke's culture. All that talk about "people first", "work life balance", "focus on the individual", "teamwork", etc - all of that is just a bunch of boardroom jargon used to motivate the worker to keep them working on under-market wages (gosh, you work for Coke, be thankful)!
Again, I hear you guys are going through layoffs again, and I totally understand that bills have to be paid - so, I hope that all of you who want to stick around manage to do so - for the rest of you, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
