What BCA is doing is systematically dismantling their entire QA program...all for the sole purpose of cutting costs.!!! Senior leadership believes that "Self Inspection" and "Statistical Analysis" of defects will eliminate the value & "excessive costs" associated with employing line QA's...something they like to call, "Inspection Optimazation"...a term most commonly used in determining maintenance scheduling for infrastructure & building facilities based on rate of use and how this impacts operations. Hang on to your hats folks, this will NOT change until something really bad happens...and it WILL...these people are playing a dangerous game in the name of maximum profitability and share-holder happiness!!!

QA should be respected, not shunned
oh yes... eventually, something bad WILL happen. If not in the form of lawn dart, but by being hit hard in the pocketbook, as the quality customers have been receiving is reduced.
There are mechanics that do a really good job, and could be trusted. Then there are mechanics that are a complete hack and don't even do the job; just sit on it all day. The lazy QA at Boeing have not done their organization, or fellow QA any favors, by roller stamping jobs either.
I'm just not clear how this is being passed off for acceptance by the FAA, when Boeing is on notice until 2020 for not following their own processes?
Even their inspection optimization, of removing QA from critical items doesn't follow their process; when the historical data from the start to now, is there that every single plane on one of the programs goes out the door, being inspected/reworked/built to an NC - as the work from Supplier is still non-conforming. Per Boeing's own process.... this work package should not quality for removal of all QA from it, because it's not stable.
Self inspection? LOL
