Thread regarding Coca-Cola Co. layoffs

Layoff Criteria @ Coca Cola

This was done by outside consultants, and they tried to be neutral but how much do they know about what we work.

Consultants set criteria for employee assessments that took place this was done by the employee’s manager and and one or two other assessors who will be persons who worked with the employee so they knew their work.

This would lead you to believe that they used some kind of reason for cuts but there was many cases where good performers were let go and they kept average people.

So, go figure - what do we know

The layoff criteria was pretty clear to me. Cull out the older workers - those who have been there more than 10 years and are around 50 or older. White males in particular. Job grade 11 or higher. How many times in IT did we hear this year that our work force was too old and we needed more entry level positions and more Millennials. HR seemed to take particular glee in laying off people within just 1 or 2 years of retirement. Think of all the money they saved pulling the rug out from under those who had been solid performers for many years by denying them retirement when it was so near.

Obviously people feel they are not being heard, not being listen to, not getting the answers they need to keep confident and within the walls of the office. It would be nice to have someone tell me the truth for once and give me a chance to modify behavior or move on to something else that provides me a better fit. I know it s---s to lose your job and no matter who gets let go someone will always criticize the whole concept and those who end up on the cutting block. Companies can't continue to be great without making forward fiscal decisions and unfortunately as technologies and global communications improve there will enevitably be redundancy and waste. This is how companies survive and move with the times. It doesn't make it easier to hear or live through and I can only hope everyone lands in their feet with a story about how they would never be where they are today if the still worked at Coke. So good luck to all those affected by these cuts.

Coca Cola company is laying off as part of the restructure and that has been a long time coming and well known. The bottlers who are taking over operations are expanding quickly. No news on this one

I can not believe this is sponsored by Coca Cola. The punctuation and grammar is terrible.

There is no need to discuss layoffs here.

You have a monthly townhall and recurring communication and your manager.

DO WE NEED TO DISCUSS THIS PUBLICLY?
