Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Didn't have to be this way

Didn't have to be this way...Kmart and sears have a long history of good products and customer service, but unfortunately years of mismanagement and neglect have left a shell of what once was. It's actually very sad . I'm sure Richard sears, Alvah Roebuck, and sebastian kresge are rolling in their graves.

It was and is lack of accountability on the store and district level. Stores went to crap once sales declined due to the internet and lack of innovation. People watched stores presentations go down the drain while going on vacations and collecting six figure salaries. A store lead with an approval card has more control of the bottom line than a store manager does. They open and close they store control pricing and merchandising. Leads are paid 12/hr so how much you think they care about the stores financial health? The answer to this can be seen when you walk in a store.

KMart never had a history of good products. KMart had a history of cheap products. Then Walmart came along and did cheap a heck of a lot better.

the greed is perpetuated by the off-spring of the old timers - so whose to blame ???

Its very interesting looking into its past of what was back in the days with Kmart/Sears. I am sure it was a fantastic company once upon a time. Reason I know is because old timers still go to the store and speak how great it was and why they have kept shopping (I get a good nice conversation with them). Course old timers that have done big purchases in the past having a great experience have come again some have gotten lucky getting a solid product some have gotten crap since its not the same quality.

It is very sad seeing Sears/Kmart go under to me they have great products their Kenmore/Craftsman/Die Hard you name it it was big on them they just let greed get to them all about the $$$ which is important, but having a great relationship with its customers and its employees are a big important factor of why a company stays strong.

When I was a kid we went to Kmart because they were in every corner and had he best prices. I loved getting a popcorn and icee while mom shopped. We had a household full of kenmore appliances and dad taught me how to build a bird house with his craftsman tools. It's actually depressing to see what greed has done to both Kmart and sears
