Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Would getting a promotion

Be a signal you're safe from layoffs?

Has anyone had any lay off experience going on lately?

I'm not hearing it but I know a whole team is being moved out to another location.

What is the climate?

I am concerned staying is a dead end and yet is any financial job out there really safe?

Bank of America isn't the list of companies cutting jobs throughout corporate America still exist still keep happening.

Any insight? Any advice?

Sad and somber as I have family at STT and high tech

Much is hidden out there the company behind "Watson" dumped unceremoniously 250,000 people and cut pensions to vested employees

Yes a whopping QUARTER of a million employees that was suppressed in the news.

Lay offs are a dirty secret of corporate America.

Jays a lightweight all around

@: @NS46CZo-axv Don't they need someone there to mind the store?

Sorry SST has been laying off people since the year 2000 and changing Ceo's constantly

Over that time SST has laid off some of their best and brightest workers to cut cost.

Which has doubled and sometimes tripled the work load on the remaining workers.

I seen people with certifications in 4 different fields of computer networking, programming.

I just think some areas are more "valuable" than other areas, like a department store.

It's a business they have to make hard decisions and laying people off at times is the only route.

Personally I think once a company starts cutting though they become less creative and I think they take the path of least resistant cutting jobs instead of other measures.

Corporations do have life cycles and you can stave off the inevitable sometimes.

I don't think STT is on life support by any stretch of the imagination I think the CEO maybe is over his head on remedies and maybe new thoughts on procedures is needed.

You see the news everyday there are layoffs everywhere, but there are new jobs being created too.

If you like your job then do your best and keep your skills sharp never rest and be prepared.

Sorry to bust your bubble but getting a promotion doesn't mean your safe from layoffs.

All it means is at this time SST needs your skills still but they could drop you any time they want.

I remember the constant motto the Bosses would tell the remaining workers who were stressed from having their workloads doubled and tripled.

And it went like this "be grateful you still have a job, be grateful you still have a job---------------
