This is like asking how one feels about gossamer. One does not dissect gossamer
Yes, but most of the people that know data (as in junk in, junk out) have been shown the doors. So, now you have a bunch of newly hired that don't know how to evaluate the data or question the questions management is tasking them with. But, they reinforce the new culture because they are ever so glad to have jobs. And management can now say how smart they be. Just like google.
How does AAET relate to what Geophysical Technology used to do - isn't it the same thing (or very similar)?
Yeah, 'Data Analytics' if you drill down into it, it doesn't really mean anything, its just a marketing buzzword. Same with Big Data, Cloud Computing, etc etc. Just a load of BS to keep the IT industry and consultants money coming in
Microsoft are basically playing catch-up trying to compete with Amazon and Google in the Cloud market. Apart from intelligence agencies, who needs fast access to petabytes of data?
OK, let's target the oil and gas industry and sell them something they don't need.
Google 'big data analytics oil and gas' and try to find something useful in there. Even the papers produced by Shell are very vague.
Cloud? We've had remote access to big servers since the 1960's, google 'time-sharing systems'.
Internet of things? We've had remote oilfield monitoring systems since the 80's.
Big Data? O&G seismic used to lead the way since the '70's.
Bogus, bogus, bogus, it's just a marketing scam. Shame APC got s---ed into such an obvious scam. Shows a lack of technical expertise and understanding in higher management.
Nerds
Data analytics is an emerging technology that helps companies make better decisions. But what we have here is a department that was created without really knowing how analyzing data would help the company or what data they should even look at. There are unqualified individuals from other teams that were moved into the AAET team, who know nothing about programming or data analytics. For these reasons we have the result of a department with an infinite budget, yet no goal or direction, so you'll see them start to make problems. This is what happens when you have a solution to a non-existing problem, you start looking for problems and make some up as you go.
They pay a lot...high salary
Looks to me like trying to replace actual experience with engineering data gathering crap.
What good is the data, you still need people to interpret it and make decisions.
Analytics analysis emerging technology, they are aggressively hiring
What is AAET?
