Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

LAW SUIT

I've been in touch with a law firm that is interested in bringing an age discrimination law suit against Zenith Education Group/ECMC. A high majority of the employees involved in the Reduction in Forces that took place in 2015 and 2016 were over the age of 50. They have now hired and or promoted younger people into some of the positions that became open by the Reduction in Forces. As per the attorneys understanding these terminations may have been done to rid the company of older employees to save on insurance costs which is in violation of the age discrimination act.

Anyone know why new online applications aren't being solicited? Can Zenith possibly even survive, without a thriving and growing online majority?

It was not a discrimination case at point. It was a few people in the presidents office that attempted to figure out who could hug the students with motherly love to keep them in the seats. It is a mental game of which they believed they were a step ahead of the employees. If you look at the background experience of whom was let go and who is now there it will be obvious. You cannot take a student and make them a teacher to expect the same results at hand. keep a few old timers and dump the rest, strict teachers cause low numbers. You need teachers that will hug and be the students friends. education was not a word in that meeting. education is never a word in any meeting.

In other words, no contact info will be giving because this case is not winnable. Just move on with your life and plan better for financial issues especially if you are over 40.

Once they've completed the initial determination and feel this is a winnable case, contact information will be supplied.

I don't think they discriminated against age, I think they discriminated against conservatives. It just so happens that many older folk are wise enough to be conservative, and it cost them. I saw them weeding out the conservative teachers for the liberal females fist hand.

If this was true, you would have named the law firm or included some way to contact them or you. The law firm, themselves, would have told you to provide this detail in some manner. Oh, and by the way, lawsuit is one word, not two.

The Law firm indicated we may be able to sue for all back pay including lost benefits and for additional hardship. Should be able to claim a big chunk of that $250 million ECMC gave to Zenith.

I still don't understand why the DOE, Congress, state education officials, and state attorneys general allow this to continue. I'm serious. Why do we want taxpayer dollars going to thousands of students who either won't finish their education, have major debt, default, and basically ruin their lives. This cycle is nearly the same even if they finish the program. Few end up with living wage jobs. I understand giving consumers choice, but don't we have a responsibility to the taxpayer? Stop the madness.

Actually, Zenith IS doing one thing that is very important to DOE: Keeping the doors open prevents DOE from having to issue millions in loan forgiveness. Had CCI simply closed three years ago DOE would have suffered a huge loss, one that likely would have led to an investigation that would have highlighted the poor job they did on behalf of students and taxpayers. ECMC prevented that from happening and now has full support the DOE, no matter what. Not to mention a perpetual pipeline of bad debt to collect....

There are so many violations this company is making. This is only one example of the wrongdoing this so callled non profit is committing. To think that the ACCSC is going to accredit such a travesty to education is just a crime and a waste of everyone's time and money. Zenith isn't doing anything they promised the DOE, and they are still using predatory recruiting practices, targeting the lowest demographic, not implementing the entrance testing that was required by the ACCSC, and are enrolling anyone with a heartbeat and financial aid. This is so sad. The only people that are going to pay the price are the uneducated, uninformed, stupid enrollees who don't know any better.

DOE- please make this stop. Please close this disgrace to our country down.
