Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples used to be a good company - I give them a year or maybe two.

Yes, the executives will get their golden parachute and the little people will get nothing but a boot in the @##! It is so sad, but at the end of the day, they just don't give a damn about the employees!

Shira never should have been put in the position that she has now. Just because someone has gone from department to department does not mean they know how to run an entire company! She is WAY over her head and she knows it!

Shira has been CEO for a year now but I personally haven't seen any positive change in the retail division. Turnover is at a crazy high, plenty of toxic and useless people in management, metrics are still ridiculous and sales are sinking every quarter.

I would love to sit quietly, but don't worry I cannot do that because I was laid off in February. Good luck turning the company around. I for one will never shop there again. There are a lot of talented people there and many of them are my friends. I feel sorry for all of you - it is a sinking ship.

Shira was/is HR >>> HR was weaponized to protect the Executives going back at least 9 years ago. Shira was on the frontlines of that weaponization. Smiling faces tell lies. She and a few others want their big payday by selling. Cerberus Capital? These things never work out well for those left behind. They will blow smoke up your a-- right to the last second ( cause they need you in place to maintain the VALUE of the company till the sale is final, they can't have you all quitting right now cause the VALUE would diminish) then wave bye bye with their multi-million dollar payouts.

In the meantime if you thought things s--- now, you ain't seen nothin yet.

There is some good news however. Most of the worms eating on the Staples corpse - like DM's RVPS will get locked out of payments from the sale and SCREWED....hahahah a well deserved finale for those dorks.... Once in charge Cerberus will move with lightening speed to consolidate power, alter pay grades, allow some to re-apply for their jobs at half the pay etc. That's just the start! Then the real FUN starts as they sell off the crap divisions or units and try to sell the true jewels at maximum value. Have fun my friends.... so glad to be "Watching From Afar"

Ok, clearly you have little understanding of what Shira has done and been tasked to do. First of all, she has done a fantastic job at trying to turn a morbid morale culture into something more positive. Do you even understand the daunting challenge that is in the face of the trajectory this company is headed. That is a big part of being a good leader. Secondly, this path the company is on is one that can't be turned around overnight, it will take a little time, ingenuity, and hard work. The problem is not Shira, it is a lack of foresight and vision by the former CEO who was fixed on a retail annuity business and didn't plan, invest in, or architect a shift toward the commerce world we live in today. Sit in your cube and blame others for what is happening to you, Run to the corner and get ready to accept defeat. I my friend along with a lot of very talented people will roll up our sleeves and find a way to move this company in the right direction and don"t worry you will still get your paycheck as you sit quietly on your hands and continue to add zero value or effort to the turnaround attempt.
