June 19th is the rumored day for WFR's... is it going to be primarily out of one group/country? Sticking with the older employees? No one feels safe anymore... such a shame!

Well Meg said out with the old and in with the new publicly...
Uh nope. Its not the old. Its not the young. There is no rhyme or reason but I can tell you that OLD HP managers make the decisions and you are 100% right there are a few folks that are the eyes of the old guard. Yes they steal anything and everything form their coworkers. The "HP" culture imploded years ago. Meg did that. But they eyes are young and old. Many times even related (yep Nepotism) .... I was there so Long, I could write their names down. While you suspect it. I know it.
Meg needs to go as well as all of her leadership team. They're destroying what's left of HPE and will get away with millions. They don't care about anyone else . Truly sad.

I love your analogy!! So very true !! There are great HPE long tenures hard workers. Unfortunately, there are plenty of "bubbles" boys and girls who managed to stay under the radar for many years. They have excellent surviving skills! I would award them with "MBA" in passing the survival camp! They are the "spys" - "eyes" for impetent managers/leadership. No matter how hard you work, your manager will evaluate your performance based on the input from these "eyes". Sadly, but true anywhere you go. But it never prepared me to see the magnitude of this type of corporate culture until I landed at HPE. It only gotten worse post merger at DXC....
Oh, yes, and… For those HPE employees, for whom it is NOT a realistic option to find a non-HPE job that pays half-decent, in your city, if pulling up stakes and moving your family is not an option… BEWARE of the idea of moving within HPE! Even if your group looks to be a big fat target for the next ever-looming layoffs, and some other group looks like less of a target… Look before you leap! You just might be hopping from the frying pan into the fire!
The reason why I say this, is as follows: Layoffs compounded with “forced distribution reviews” (meaning, make your co-workers look BAD so that you can look GOOD) means that many-many groups (most groups?) are heavily populated by those who are talented at making you look bad, so that they can look good. Newbies beware! They’ll steal credit for your work, and constantly remind the boss HOW much harder it is, what THEY are doing, than what YOU are doing. Etc. …
Also beware the “circular logic loop” which is targeted at newbies. All it takes, is seniority in the group, and enough buzzwords to make yourself look plausible. Simply insist that “newbie” must triple-prove any new work that “newbie” does, because after all, he/she IS a newbie, and is kinda slow, therefor not to be totally trusted. Not like me; I’ve been around a while, so I can merely single-prove or half-prove my work, and go on. … Now newbie, having to ALWAYS triple-prove newbie’s work, will CONTINUE to be slow! So newbie NEVER gets any real credibility, for always being slow, so… Will always continue to need to triple-prove his/her work! And therefore be slow; continue to N + 1 till newbie needs to be laid off and replaced, and then you can do it to the next newbie!
Granny Meg is just "saying" in an attempt to hold remaining "full time" employees hostage. In the same breath, they are getting rid of "full time" employees and replace with contractors to save "benefit" cost. This is a clear indication the "leadership" is clueless and has no strategy but constantly react to whatever situation or climate at DXC.
It's all words with no substance. Remember this, granny got 35 million from the spin merge, her loyalty is with $$ not employees. The more casualties resulting from WFRs, the more she will have bragging right to secure more stock options... just saying...
I feel like the infamous red stapler from Orifice Space... Just another item or tool to be used.
Meg's latest speech to employees brings this out... She is in favor of replacing all the contractors with full-time employees being moved around (from what few are left after layoffs). It does NOT matter HOW specially talented or experienced the contractors are... Move another warm body with a pulse into the slot, and the problem is solved!
Ditto with Meg's favoring moving HPE employees internally as opposed to hiring from outside... A Productivity Unit is a Productivity Unit is a Productivity Unit... Just as long as said Productivity Unit has NOT yet been laid off by HPE, or is too old, or RXed a "D" on his or her report card! (The management DOES check your last report card, and, since NO manager at HPE EVER makes a mistake, once you have RXed the "D of Death", you can NOT move internally)!
haha, that sums up my tenure at HPE.
I felt like Milton from Office Space.
Is Granny Meg on the chopping block?
How can they lay me off if they don't even know I exist? I've been through EIGHT managers in 4 years... they know nothing about me or even care. This is the old Compaq? I don't THINK so..
