Thread regarding CSX Corp. layoffs

Hunter wrote a book

If you read it, you will understand the next move in this chess game. Understand the past actions of the man and it will help you understand the future. Why do you think the choice has been made to shut down so many smaller facilities and outdated buildings? These facilities were well past there useful life.

All of the quick lube centers that are so called shops will be closed, leaving only a few large shops that are capable of actually working on the equipment. It seems most of the attempts of the prior management team only cost the company time and money. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Hunter sees this, Sanborn and Ward couldn't.

Big shops

GE will take over the maintenance once again.

Composite Mechanics.

Greater focus on coal.

This is how Hunter will reach his magic ratio. More to come.....

Corbin may have been the most modern shop, but they had the laziest employees. Their production was comparable to shops less than half the size with 1/10th the people. Ask any manager that had Corbin transplants come work for them. Those guys did/do NOT understand the concept of 8hrs work for 8hrs pay. The crappier part of the whole thing is that the management that let those guys get away with it for so long we're also transplanted, and in at least one case promote (to a level that can infect an entire division).

The Corbin shutdown should have happened a LONG time ago.

When you are forced to ride 12 hours on an engine that has sh!t backed up through the toilet, you will understand why the lube shops are necessary.

You're an idiot. Corbin was shut down, and it was one of CSXs more modern shops. Harrison can't just say, you'll be composite mechanics. He has to negotiate with the national carriers conference to do that. And you can focus on coal all you want. If the demands not there, Harrison can't just create it. Go get on some siding somewhere. Take some pictures, and leave the railroading to the adults.
