The following "Rant" and guidance is intended to insult the "Please Come Buy Giant Eagle" party goers , and is NOT intended to insult those who are smart enough to know how asinine this theory really is!
To begin, I'll be the first to admit (privately), I'm frustrated with the direction Giant Eagle is headed and have zero trust in the Organizational Leadership we have! However, to the folks out there BEGGING someone come swoop in and buy Giant Eagle, I have some advice! Do you not recall the late 90's when Giant Eagle purchased TOPPS "Friendly" Markets??? While I am NOT a former TOPPS employee, I WAS around for the takeover and to this day will never forget what disgust those employees have for all they lost joining Giant Eagle! Ask any one of them how they felt and I'll give you $10 for every one that was/is happy about it!
Most, if not all of them, lost pay, "years of service" credit, vacation time, full-time status, and so much more when they moved over! While that's how acquisitions are handled in billion dollar organizations, I hold no ill feelings towards Giant Eagle in any way. The company could have legally terminated every single TOPPS employee yet they chose to give them employment anyway.
Why am I ranting on about this you might ask? If you think, for even ONE nanosecond, that Publix, Aldi, GIANT, Kroger, Walmart, Meyer, Fresh Tyme, Piggly Wiggly (for christs sake) would come, purchase the company, only to leave everyone alone neglecting to restructure down to even the Part Time (special needs) Lot Attendant... then you my friend, are possibly the single most reason, the companies current state of business is in disarray! Yes, that's a mighty large accusation, but you get the point!
In closing, I am NOT a corporate employee, and honestly can say that I work in the trenches alongside the many hard working (and even the many lazy) folks every day! And while I have a fantastic position in Operations, I've still busted my a-- to earn it and spent decades secretly chasing that Company Koolaid with an antidote preventing sickness. Therefore I have the knowledge and intelligence to accurately speak on the above topic regardless if you agree or not!
So please, educate yourselves before ignorantly begging the organization to accept a purchase offer, otherwise ask someone to take you out back and "put you down" like the lame fawn you are!
